Dorner manhunt: Charred human remains found in burned cabin

Charred human remains have been found in the burned cabin where police believe fugitive ex-cop Christopher Dorner was holed up after trading gunfire with law enforcement, authorities said.

If the body is identified to be Dorner’s, the standoff would end a weeklong manhunt for the ex-LAPD officer and Navy Reserve lieutenant who is believed to be responsible for a string of revenge-fueled shootings following his firing by the Los Angeles Police Department several years ago. Four people have died, allegedly at Dorner’s hands.

The last burst of gunfire Tuesday came after the suspect, attempting to flee law enforcement officials, shot to death a San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputy and seriously injured another, officials said. He then barricaded himself in a wooden cabin outside Big Bear, not far from ski resorts in the snow-capped San Bernardino Mountains east of Los Angeles, according to police.

Just before 5 p.m., authorities smashed the cabin's windows, pumped in tear gas and called for the suspect to surrender. They got no response. Then, using a demolition vehicle, they tore down the cabin's walls one by one. When they reached the last wall, they heard a gunshot, officials said, and then the cabin burst into flames.

Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck said he would not consider the manhunt over until a body was identified as Dorner.

I bet you could claim the body was D.B. Cooper and within the hour there would be a Facebook page about it.

Dozens of cabins spontaneously combust every year. It just isn’t widely reported.

It worked. Some people just need killing and he was at the top of the list.

I'm just not sure setting the cabin on fire, is an appropriate tool or method for law enforcement.

Shades of Farenheit 451. Do you have a copy of "Unintended Consequences" or "The Stand at Klamath Falls" on your book shelf?

"Burn it. Burn this m****ker down!"

Try to come up with another statement that reflects an even more shallow thought. Bet you can't.

I hope it’s him, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it weren’t. And if it turns out the po-po expended all that manpower and destruction and DIDN’T get him, I’ll really have little choice other than to laugh at their incompetence.

Another interesting possibility: What if the body is identified as Dorner, but more LEO’s come down with lead poisoning?

They ‘WACO-ed’ the WHACKO!........

Don't get too happy. Next time, it might be you.

It is evident that the LAPD were not willing to risk any "OJ Verdict" for him. The next time, it may be some conservative opposing Obama who they choose not to risk being released due to "jury nullification".

The LEO’s demanded that the TV live feeds be cut and no helo cams were allowed within 3 miles of the place........NO WITNESSES..............

How about we just ‘drone’ them. Kinda like that 16 yo overseas American whose only apparent ‘crime’ was that he happened to be the son of a ‘suspected’ terrorist(kinda like the depraved Dorner reason for killing his first 2 victims). Due process? Nah, the Prez, on a whim, can take out anyone, anywhere, at anytime. And the nation sits, watches, does nothing except reward such behavior with 4 more years. Dorner is just a symptom of a society whose legal/moral values are in decline, hence the number of citizens who were cheering Dorner on.....

But who is to say the next time the cops feel like WACO-ing someone it won’t be a law-abiding group of “bitter clingers” who happen to have more guns than the local sheriff thinks they should have?

That kind of high level thinking is in short supply around here.

Worth repeating: "If the way we deal with lawbreakers is to burn them alive, then we might as well shred the Constitution..."

He killed a man’s child in order to hurt him. He deserved to die horribly.
Quit coddling the criminals.
