BIG BEAR LAKE, Calif. — As police scoured mountain peaks for days, using everything from bloodhounds to high-tech helicopters, the revenge-seeking ex-cop they wanted was hiding among them, holed up in a vacation cabin across the street from their command post.
It was there that Christopher Dorner apparently took refuge last Thursday, four days after beginning a deadly rampage that would claim four lives.

He never emerged from the ruins and hours later a charred body was found in the basement of the burned cabin along with a wallet and personal items, including a California driver's license with the name Christopher Dorner, an official briefed on the investigation told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation.

My guess is that the homeowner will have to sue the LEO’s who set fire to her home, because they are not going to willingly pay to have it rebuilt. But in the end, after shelling out tens of thousands of bucks to their lawyers to try and avoid payment, they will have to pay with our money. Ditto for the trucks that they shot up!
From what I recall, he was both a police officer and a reservist, and was discharged from the military AFTER he was fired from the LAPD.
If their claim gets denied, I wonder if the cops will cough up $500K (or whatever it's worth). It's a little more than a shot up pick-up truck.

This works, but I was hoping the resolution of the matter would have been about 26 bullets to Dorner’s head.

I have exhausted all available means at obtaining my name back. I have attempted all legal court efforts within appeals at the Superior Courts and California Appellate courts. This is my last resort. The LAPD has suppressed the truth and it has now lead to deadly consequences. The LAPD’s actions have cost me my law enforcement career that began on 2/7/05 and ended on 1/2/09. They cost me my Naval career which started on 4/02 and ends on 2/13. I had a TS/SCI clearance(Top Secret Sensitive Compartmentalized Information clearance) up until shortly after my termination with LAPD.He was honorably discharged from the Navy, He blames the LAPD for the Navy deciding to discharge him, probably connected with his appeals, or his continued disgruntled behavior after his appeal was rejected in 2011.
According to police, Quan was the daughter of a retired LAPD captain who represented Dorner at the Board of Rights hearing that led to his firing, and the killings were carried out in an act of revenge outlined in a lengthy manifesto Dorner posted online — blaming Quan’s father for losing his job.
Dorner is also a suspect in the shooting of a Los Angeles police officer near Interstate 15 and Magnolia Avenue in Corona early today.
The officer suffered a graze wound to the head.
About 20 minutes later, Dorner is believed to have ambushed two Riverside officers while they were stopped at a red light at Magnolia and Arlington avenues, according to Riverside police Lt. Guy Toussaint, adding that the two were on “routine patrol” and were not searching for Dorner at the time.
One of the officers — a 34-year-old, 11-year veteran of the force — was killed.
The wounded Riverside officer, who is 27 years old, underwent surgery and is expected to fully recover, Riverside police Chief Sergio Diaz said.

The fire burned for hours, “charred” his body, but didn’t burn a wallet, or melt his driver’s license? I hope they got the psycho, but doesn’t it seem a bit odd?

Dorner was a trained police officer and knows police procedure.
Until a DNA sample from the corpse, and dental records show coclusively
that it was in fact his body in the burning basement, he remains ‘at large’.
If the corpse is not Dorner , he will have a 4 - 7 day headstart
in relocating and assuming a new identity.
The other day , while viewing the ‘twitter ‘ page there was notation
from a pizza delivery guy saying that he had recieved a call to deliver
at that same cabin . Perhaps the corpse is another pizza delivery guy ?
Right ......the cabin is torched.....the body is charred.....but the plastic drivers license stays intact? Right

Heat rises and he was in the basement. If his body was lying on his wallet it might have been preserved.
Does anybody know if this charred cabin where he had been hiding for the last week, or did he just pick that cabin out at random when he abandoned his vehicle???

All the sources I checked online indicate that he was honorably discharged from the Navy.
