Cultural Deviancy Is the Problem, Not Guns

There’s a story told about a Paris chief of police who was called to a department store to stop a burglary in progress. Upon his arrival, he reconnoitered the situation and ordered his men to surround the entrances of the building next door. When questioned about his actions, he replied that he didn’t have enough men to cover the department store’s many entrances but he did have enough for the building next door. Let’s see whether there are similarities between his strategy and today’s gun control strategy.

Last year, Chicago had 512 homicides; Detroit had 411; Philadelphia had 331; and Baltimore had 215. Those cities are joined by other dangerous cities — such as St. Louis, Memphis, Tenn., Flint, Mich., and Camden, N.J. — and they also lead the nation in shootings, assaults, rapes and robberies. Both the populations of those cities and their crime victims are predominantly black. Each year, more than 7,000 blacks are murdered. Close to 100 percent of the time, the murderer is another black person.

According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, between 1976 and 2011, there were 279,384 black murder victims. Though blacks are 13 percent of the nation’s population, they account for more than 50 percent of homicide victims. Nationally, the black homicide victimization rate is six times that of whites, and in some cities, it’s 22 times that of whites. Coupled with being most of the nation’s homicide victims, blacks are also most of the victims of violent personal crimes, such as assault and robbery. The magnitude of this tragedy can be seen in another light. According to a Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute study, between 1882 and 1968, 3,446 blacks were lynched at the hands of whites.

What percentage of murders, irrespective of race, are committed with what are being called assault weapons? You’d be hard put to come up with an amount greater than 1 or 2 percent. In fact, according to FBI data from 2011, there were 323 murders committed with a rifle of any kind but 496 murders committed with a hammer or a club. But people who want to weaken our Second Amendment guarantees employ a strategy like that of the Paris chief of police.

They can’t do much about hammers, clubs, fists or pistols, but by exploiting public ignorance, they might have a bit of success getting an “assault weapon” ban that will have little impact on violent crime.

There are other measures these people employ in an attempt to end violence that border on lunacy. Massachusetts’ Hyannis West Elementary recently warned a 5-year-old’s parents that if their son made another gun from a Legos set, he’d be suspended. Elementary-school children have been suspended or otherwise disciplined for drawing a picture of a gun or pointing a finger and saying, “Bang, bang.” I shudder to think about what would happen to kids in a schoolyard if they played, as I played nearly 70 years ago, “cops ‘n’ robbers” or “cowboys ‘n’ Indians.” Maybe today’s politically correct educators would cut the kids a bit of slack if they said they were playing “cowboys ‘n’ Native Americans.”

What explains a lot of what we see today, which politicians and their liberal allies would never condemn, is growing cultural deviancy. Twenty-nine percent of white children, 53 percent of Hispanics and 73 percent of black children are born to unmarried women. The absence of a husband and father from the home is a strong contributing factor to poverty, school failure, crime, drug abuse, emotional disturbance and a host of other social problems. By the way, the low marriage rate among blacks is relatively new. Census data show that a slightly higher percentage of black adults had married than white adults from 1890 to 1940. In 2009, the poverty rate among married whites was 3.2 percent; for blacks, it was 7 percent, and for Hispanics, it was 13.2 percent. The higher poverty rates — 22 percent for whites, 35.6 percent for blacks and 37.9 percent for Hispanics — are among unmarried families.

Other forms of cultural deviancy are found in the kind of music accepted today that advocates killing and rape and other vile acts. Punishment for criminal behavior is lax. Today’s Americans accept behavior that our parents and grandparents never would have accepted.

Wow

During WWII, the percentage was 7% . . . that's right . . . 7% . . . and it was lower than the "whites" in WWII . . . see what we've done to this group? . . . 7% vs 73% . . . and there's no shame anymore.

Parents and grandparents probably thought their parent’s music was old and stuffy. How far back should we go to recover?

The first thing I would do is establish the FACT that there is an absolute truth. Without that, Lord Of The Flies.

Precisely. . . gun violence is one symptom of the problem, but it is not the problem itself.

All....Does anybody remember what the Democrats did at their convention ??? First they eliminated any mention of the word GOD...and when they thought twice about doing that they reintroduced the resolution what happened ? They booed God....That resolution was rammed through just like the Affordable Health Care Act ...
Was that fact used in any of the material Rove’s RINOS spewed forth during the 2012 Romney or US senate races his group of GOPES (Government Ofthe People Elite Snobs) used on their hit list ? I like using that acronym because it rhymes with dopes.

Noooo ! They could have used that episode to point out how far to the left the democrat party has hyphenated into; Demo-Coms ...Instead well OMG OMG what did Aikin say ? He’s unqualified because the media and the demo-coms don’t believe there is a God...HERE’S HOW THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN HANDLED

Well at least Aikin believed in something like the ten commandments. Including Thou shalt not steal and doesn’t believe that getting elected to office doesn’t give you a license to do that. Which his opponent seems to have done rather well since being in office. The same thing with Mourdock.

But did you hear anything like this from Rove’s RINOS ? And particularly from the “conservative” talk show hosts backing Rove ?

Now his bunch seems to be saying if you hold a religious view don’t run for office... We’re gonna save the Republican party ....to be finished off by Obama and the hypenated democrats..
Roves RINOS wrong for America and wrong for the Republican party...

Democrats and ROVE’S RINOS
GOD DENIERS AND CONGENITAL LIARS
ARE REDISTRIBUTE WEALTH INCITERS/
FOR FIRST YOUR MONEY THEN YOUR GUNS
AND BE DEFENSELESS WHEN CROOKS COME

It’s time to get government out of Our face Our religion and and Our pocketbook

(The above is designed to be printed up and passed around your precinct and your friends and neighbors as a (index sized) palmcard. On the face (REVERSE SIDE)or below the slogan you can put the name of the candidate you favor and the election dates...EXCELLENT FOR SLIPPING UNDER WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON CARS PARKED IN KEY PARKING LOTS CHURCHES, RALLY SITES....

There is no question strict gun control has done nothing to deter violent crime in Chicago, but guess what? Removing all gun control in Chicago also would have little affect.

The real problem is a certain segment of Chicago’s popuation is prone to commit violent crime.

Chicago needs more criminal control, not gun control.

Unfortunately, what conservatives consider cultural deviancy, Liberals consider ‘normal’ life; this schism between the two groups is already gaping wide, and is growing by the day.

Soon, if not already, we will be living in two countries separated in fact, if not in name.

Hey, there’s no “DNC” in “deviancy.”

Whoops. Yes there is.

Maybe OBs 29 New Programs will fix this.

(20) And we’ll work to strengthen families by removing the financial deterrents to marriage for low-income couples, and doing more to encourage fatherhood – because what makes you a man isn’t the ability to conceive a child; it’s having the courage to raise one.

(26) “So the United States will join with our allies to eradicate such extreme poverty in the next two decades: by connecting more people to the global economy and empowering women; by giving our young and brightest minds new opportunities to serve and helping communities to feed, power, and educate themselves; by saving the world’s children from preventable deaths; and by realizing the promise of an AIDS-free generation.”

...see what we've done to this group?

Not all of us, but definitely "we" as a society and as a nation and what we want and accept. Now we need to stop and look at what we're doing and be honest about what we see, like Dr. Williams is good at doing.

Perhaps then we can come to our senses and re-acquire some self-preservation, but I'm not so sure. Hard not to notice a certain end times smell in the air. Kinda strong sometimes and getting stronger.

That is exactly why I own 2 hymnals. :) Besides Mary Had a Little Lamb, Humpty Dumpty, etc, it is Jesus Loves Me and the Doxology that I have ingrained in my mind. When I need, it is not Humpty Dumpty that I sing, it is the Doxology.

Most “wanna feel good about myself so I support government programs to help the poor” sheeperals

are highly offended if you tell them the truth about their pet programs

CAUSING the misery, cultural decay, and violence that they are bemoaning.

On more than one occasion I’ve gotten “you’re always blaming everything on liberals”,

to which I reply “and rightly so.”

Obama voters and that’s why this will go nowhere while they attempt to disarm the law-abiding, especially white ones.
I fear how this will end.

"Americans accept behavior that our parents and grandparents never would have accepted.”

'Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable... We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem. We have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from sin and Set us free. In Jesus' Name, Amen!'

Billy Graham's prayer for our Nation...

Norming down the deviant began long ago but has now reached the critical mass state and is rapidly destroying anything like respect for any virtue other than a perverted understanding of ‘equality’ and ‘tolerance’. Black American may display dysfunction more floridly than any other segment but there is a vast amount in Hispanic America and a great , great deal in white middle class America. I remember being disturbed about the attitudes of my quite well off cousins in Fredericksburg, Va back in the 50’s. Their in your face arrogance and pursuit of excitement for the sake of excitement seemed to indicate something worse lurking beneath. Later I learned about how the Greeks considered insolence and lack or respect for the received moral order as the greatest offense a man could commit. That is what Americans have been taught is the supreme virtue for decades and now we are reaping the social whirlwind.
