“... may not have recognized the signs of pregnancy”.

I agree that this baby is a blessing to them. However, getting a large stomach is just one sign of being pregnant. Everything changes... and I mean everything. I just don’t understand how one could ignore a moving, kicking child inside of you. Perhaps, she isn’t the most intelligent person in the world. I’m not saying that in a mean way.. but perhaps she is a bit slow and didn’t understand.

That’s my guess too. If you don’t know, you almost have to be.

According to the article she was completely clueless about her pregnancy, because her menstrual periods had “always been irregular” They had always believed they could not get pregnant.

Not having a period for multiple months would generally be a clue.

In today’s society, usually NOT wanting one results in pregnancy.

I suppose it can happen earlier for some, later for others. Lots to do with family histories.

That made me laugh way more than I should have. Funny stuff.

Believing she might have a hernia, the doctor sent her to an Allegiance Health facility for a computerized tomography or CT scan.

Not the best imaging study for a 3rd trimester fetus

I remember a gal in the military who weighed about 115 or 120 and she went into the hospital thinking she had a severe digestive acid problem. She gave birth the day she went into the hospital. Had no clue she was pregnant.

It reminded me a bit of how Sarah laughed at God when He said she’d have a child in her older age, and later God said the child’s name would be Isaac, meaning “laughter”. Kind of a reminder to Sarah everytime she saw her boy.

Because her menstrual periods had always been irregular. So they thought she could not get pregnant. It makes perfect sense to me

Actually, this circumstance is not that unusual. In fact, it happens frequently enough to provide weekly episodes of a reality show on the Discovery Channel called "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant."

Wait a minute. Where do you get that she thought she was in menopause? It doesn't say anything about that in the article. What it says is that her menstrual period had always been irregular

I do not understand either.
I was pregnant many many times (only had three live births, but one child).
Anyway, I knew the day after conception. I had really strange symptoms (weird really, my nose would bleed, flying bugs started biting - I’d go to the doctor and say “Hey, I am pregnant my nose is bleeding...they just laughed but I was right)
However, if after all those years of trying and no pregnancy, she really may have thought something else was wrong.
I think this story is fantastic.
As I said before this child is a blessing and sorely blessed with this mom and
dad.
I would love to learn, he became a fantastic and valuable citizen of the US, what a story they will have to tell.
