A group of students at a California high school basketball game were told to remove patriotic bandanas and stop chanting USA, USA because school administrators wanted to be sensitive to other spectators.
The incident occurred during a basketball last week between Camarillo High School and Rio Mesa High School in Ventura County.
A school administrator pulled aside four boys and told them to either remove their American flag bandanas or leave the game. The boys complied but returned to lead the crowd in a chant of USA, USA.
Camarillo High School principal Glenn Lipman told the Ventura County Star that the students were told to remove the bandanas as a precaution because the two schools have diverse student bodies.
Both schools have a large Hispanic student population.
Student Austin Medeiros and the other boys were suspended for their actions but the punishment was later lifted by school officials.
Still, students are upset over what happened and staged a protest at the schools flagpole by wearing red, white and blue.
Weve done it always, Medeiros told the Ventura County Star. Its something we do. Its the same group of friends. Were all very patriotic.

Musn’t offend the hispanic students. Only American Christians can be offended, according to the PC police.
Who did the illegal aliens chant for?
Patriotic symbols and chant “USA.” How dare they!!!!
They should go to the next game with Mexican Flag bandanas and lead the crowd in a cheer “Mexico, Mexico, Mexico.”
See if they get the same treatment.
I hope the parents make a huge stink about it.
School vouchers are an absolute must. And this is but one example of why.
I don’t mind the chanting but show some respect for our flag. IT IS NOT AN ARTICLE OF CLOTHING!!!!
do you think this school would say anything about a kid wearing a Mexican flag and saying “Viva Mexico”?
So, these "other spectators" , if they existed, were not in the USA?
How does that happen?
Some kind of time / space warp?
We’re so screwed............what more can be said?
Glen Lipmann needs an ass kicking.
>> the students were told to remove the bandanas as a precaution because the two schools have diverse student bodies.
In other words, anti-American interlopers.
Screw ‘em! This is our country and they are welcome to join us legally and in spirit but of not, they can just go back on the boat, truck or skateboard they came in on.
I bet the school goes overboard for Mexico on Cinco de Mayo
Oh boo hoo....cry me a river Armenian puss
If you find anyone who will take that bet, let me know. I want in on the action.
Watched said video...since when does chanting USA, USA USA, is racial ?
That’s when parents ask for a written report, and then kindly point out that Mexican is not a race. At that point the administrator is proven incompetent, all punishments are stopped, and the kids’ records changed to reflect that.
Ahem. I’m sorry. Isn’t it about time soome fists started swinging? Enough abuse has been heaped on us already. Let’s get this party started.
If our legislatures and courts will not approve vouchers, why don’t parents and supportive citizens just create “Negative Vouchers”.
The school systems all seem to be scrambling to count every head so they get all the Federal grant money. Move enough kids to private schools and the grant money dries up, admin staff is laid off, perhaps even someone at the Board of Education will get a clue?
Wealthy conservatives, cut your tax liability by funding a scholarship to send a kid to a decent school!
Just a thought.
What I love best about this incident is that apparently the principal just assumes the Hispanics don’t consider themselves Americans.

“Enough abuse has been heaped on us already.”
Yup.
You patriot parents in this school district need to show up at the next school board meeting - by the thousands - and demand that this administrator be fired. Pronto!
You people are losing your children to fascists who hate America. Organize now or lose your children forever. If you need help to organize, go to your local VFW, American Legion and 1stMarDiv Association. I can guarantee you that the leftists are terrified by veteran groups and will cave to your demands. You have power if you organize. Use it.
So do they have another name in mind by which to refer to the country known as the United States of America since our existence? I bet they do.
vouchers?
Eric Holder was arguing that banning homeschools doesn’t violate our rights!
Heh. The name looked like Greek to me. Anyway, in his case, it’s not an American name.
aztlan, or reconquista...
That’s racist to assume the Hispanic students don’t love their country.
Yep, you beat me to it. My sentiments exactly.
Surely you jest. The LaRAZAites are never stopped from chanting that. "Diversity" is the reason. We simply can't chant anything about OUR country -it might offend them.
Strange, I thought Kalifornica was in the USA.
Stuff It. It’s America, not Mexico or Spain or Central America.
I think that people who are perpetually afraid of offending someone are called pussies. Metrosexual nerds or Eunuch for short.
The student mentioned has the last name “Medeiros” - isn’t that a name of Spanish origin, and isn’t he therefore, “Hispanic?” So what exactly is the “racial overtone” to his chant of “USA, USA?” If the school administration has a problem with the young man’s patriotism, they should be required to give a full explanation - and a bunch of arm-waving about “overtones” doesn’t cut it.
California is soooo finished.
It has been conquered by political correctness and occupied by Mexico. I am so glad I escaped from that shit hole almost 35 years ago. It was paradise at one time, but the f***ing liberals destroyed it.
Without reading the whole article, I knew right away the students were from Camarillo HS. I grew up in Ventura County. Good for them, and boo to the principal and the superintendent.
Madeiros isn’t Spanish, it’s Portuguese.
correct. Rio Mesa is close a community called El Rio, rife with gang members/activity.
The Mexicans should be very insulted by this action. This is racism, pure and simple. To imply that a particular nationality or race is overly “sensitive”, is making a distinction based upon their “differentness”.
But I guess Liberals are too stupid to understand this...
Yet another reason to homeschool.
Cheers!
It seems to me any officials who make statements against the use of “USA” should be fired and possibly arrested. Certainly sued.
I’d be kicking me some “offended” and “sensitive” @$$. Sorry folks. THIS IS STILL AMERICA AND THERE ARE STILL A LOT OF AMERICANS LIVING HERE. WE HAVEN’T BEEN RUN OUT YET.
The 1st Amendment states that Congress shall make no law prohibiting free speech, as long as it does not offend someone. Everyone knows that. You cannot speak your thoughts unless thoroughly vetted by the government agent in charge of your organization.
And the public thinks that’s all right.
The Republic will not die by a vote, but by the lethargy and apathy of a greedy, self-serving people.
Oops - you’re right.
“It seems to me any officials who make statements against the use of USA should be fired and possibly arrested. Certainly sued.”
Agreed.
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
It just doesn't stop......
The chanting of “USA, USA” is a reaction to the criminal gang mentality which permeates the latino communities of Southern California.
Having grown up in Camarillo, with siblings who went to both Camarillo High and Rio Mesa, I have seen a bustling post WWII baby booming community disintegrate into a third world enclave.
The baby boomers chose not to have children, the results are inevitable. The meek will inherit the Earth.
