Students Told to Remove Patriotic Bandanas
Fox ^ | 2/132013

A group of students at a California high school basketball game were told to remove patriotic bandanas and stop chanting “USA, USA” because school administrators wanted to be sensitive to other spectators.

The incident occurred during a basketball last week between Camarillo High School and Rio Mesa High School in Ventura County.

A school administrator pulled aside four boys and told them to either remove their American flag bandanas or leave the game. The boys complied but returned to lead the crowd in a chant of “USA, USA.”

Camarillo High School principal Glenn Lipman told the Ventura County Star that the students were told to remove the bandanas as a “precaution” – because the two schools have “diverse student bodies.”

Both schools have a large Hispanic student population.

Student Austin Medeiros and the other boys were suspended for their actions – but the punishment was later lifted by school officials.

Still, students are upset over what happened and staged a protest at the school’s flagpole by wearing red, white and blue.

“We’ve done it always,” Medeiros told the Ventura County Star. “It’s something we do. It’s the same group of friends. We’re all very patriotic.”

correct. Rio Mesa is close a community called El Rio, rife with gang members/activity.

The Mexicans should be very insulted by this action. This is racism, pure and simple. To imply that a particular nationality or race is overly “sensitive”, is making a distinction based upon their “differentness”.

But I guess Liberals are too stupid to understand this...

It seems to me any officials who make statements against the use of “USA” should be fired and possibly arrested. Certainly sued.

The 1st Amendment states that Congress shall make no law prohibiting free speech, as long as it does not offend someone. Everyone knows that. You cannot speak your thoughts unless thoroughly vetted by the government agent in charge of your organization.

And the public thinks that’s all right.

The Republic will not die by a vote, but by the lethargy and apathy of a greedy, self-serving people.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the “other” articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

It just doesn't stop......

The chanting of “USA, USA” is a reaction to the criminal gang mentality which permeates the latino communities of Southern California.

Having grown up in Camarillo, with siblings who went to both Camarillo High and Rio Mesa, I have seen a bustling post WWII baby booming community disintegrate into a third world enclave.

The baby boomers chose not to have children, the results are inevitable. The meek will inherit the Earth.

That’s racist to assume the Hispanic students don’t love their country.

Of course they do, all the Hispanic kids wear American flags on May 5th, right?
