LOS ANGELES (AP) -- There was no question. The man standing before Rick Heltebrake on a rural mountain road was Christopher Dorner. Clad in camouflage from head to toe and wearing a bulletproof vest packed with ammunition, the most wanted man in America over the last week was just a few feet away, having emerged from a grove of trees holding a large, assault-style rifle.

McMahon did not say directly that the tear gas started the blaze, and the cause of the fire remained unclear.
A charred body was found in the basement, along with a wallet and personal items, including a California driver's license with the name Christopher Dorner, an official briefed on the investigation told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing probe.
Comical spin.
Not just any assault rifle, but a LARGE assault rifle.
I look forward to continued excellent professionalism and accuracy from the authorities.
Yeah sure. And I am the sugar plum fairy on meth.
It was getting dark and they wanted to make damn sure he couldn't create a diversion and escape after dark.
Much.
Its called Ambivalent Projected Immolation. API.
Pay no attention to that man shouting behind the curtain.
The guy asked for - and recieved - suicide by cop. A fate often sought by these spree killers.
So I guess when I heard them say on the scanner that they were ‘going with burn plan’ ....then a few minutes later...’burners deployed’ and then ‘we have fire’, I was just hearing things or misunderstanding. Got it.
I heard it all in real time yesterday with my own ears.
Riiiiiiigggggjjjjjtt.
"7 burners deployed and we have a fire..."
Perhaps the sheriff can enlighten us on the context and meaning of that statement.
It was humongous!
Woo woo, woo woo woo!
No, my name is not Laura Pruden!
“Not just any assault rifle, but a LARGE assault rifle.”
That caught my attention too. Like the bigger, the more assaulty and stuff
What? Are you going to believe the Sheriff or your own lying ears?
Considering no one has posted an audio clip yet, I take it with a grain of salt.
I wonder how many civilian posses burned outlaws out of their hideouts only to dangle them from the nearest tree?
Last time it happened in my little town was about 150 years ago. As I understand the story a rapist was hiding in a barn so the locals torched it. He ran out and ended up hanging from a bridge less than 100 yards from where I sit.
Imagine an arsonist saying “officer, I didn’t intend to burn the house down. I just covered the inside with gasoline and walked away.”
Assault-STYLE rifle.
yeah, right...
Well, after all, he was a large man so he would need a “large” assualt weapon
The audio is on youtube.
penelopesire is a personal friend and I will take her word for it before I will the MSM or some idiot talking head or Sheriff doing as he is told.
I’m glad he’s dead, but did the cops deliberately execute him? OF COURSE...!
And they have done that also when the target was a church full of women and kids —burned it right down.
If you give cops tons of kook gear it’s just a matter of time before they want to use it. If they don’t, then they see all the ninjya nomex as making for WASTE, or something.
They killed him, and they knew what they were doing.
They were called to the Central Station a 1:00pm and reported to the helipad. Plenty of time to fly the 70 miles. There is even chatter on the scanner record about an LAPD helo needing a fuel stop.
Hey there you!! LOL..not sure what to think anymore. LAPD shooting up surfer dudes and newspaper people last week and now burning down private property. Wondering though if this will be how they come for our guns next. Just burn people out of their homes. That some cannot see the slippery slope astounds me. I could be wrong of course. Nice to see you around!! Tell TheMom hello!

1:01 - "We're going to go forward with the plan, with the burn."
1:28 - "Burners deployed and we have a fire"

Convinced?
My bad.
I’d say it’s a case of plausible deniability.
They didn’t want it to come to trial, because it would be a race-baiting clown circus, with the media jumping through hoops.
Also, possibly, because he was fired earlier from the LAPD not for lying about his fellow cops, but because he spoke out when he was supposed to shut up and go along with it. That would by no means excuse his going around shooting people, including innocent victims who had nothing to do with his firing. But it might explain why the LAPD wanted him dead.
Also, he was going around shooting LEOs all over the place, which is not a permissable activity.
This appears to have been rough justice. On the other hand, even if his charges against the LAPD were true—which is in question—I think he had earned the death penalty for many deliberate murders, and more in the future if he was given the chance. And California has no death penalty for murder.
I don’t like to see cops taking the law into their own hands—but that’s what happens when the justice system breaks down.
Hey thanks Eaker! Here is what I posted on the other thread if anyone is interested:
Here are the times and what I tweeted(just went back and wrote it all down) Keep in mind time for typing and that this was after Dorner had holed up in the cabin and the shoot out in the street.
4:26 pm orders heard given not to fire on house unless something seen coming from house
4:29 cops say they have plenty of help up here, no more officers needed
5:00 reports of checking missing person report and possible hostages
5:57 heard them say they were going to the burn plan.
6:15 report of possible gas coming from the house
6:17 burners deployed and we have fire
6:20 called for fire engines
6:21 shots fired from inside house
6:23 ammo exploding
Those are times and contents of my tweets while listening to the scanner for those interested. I also lost scanner feed for a time before all of this came in loud and clear.
Did anyone on FR not think that as soon as this guy showed his face he would be dead in a few minutes? I just assumed they’d kill him and there’d be no trial.
eye for an eye.
Don’t care if they offed the dude. Just make sure the owner gets 100% of everything he lost.
What another brainless remark—”...did not intend...”.
When you lob pyrotechnic tear gas into a dwelling, there is a high likelihood it will start a fire. And with no fireman around to put it out, there is a further high likelihood it will burn out of control. And when it burns outta control there is also a high likelihood it will burn the building down. So these are the guys with the guns and who do not want us to have em.
Wasn’t J.W. Booth burned out?
Will suck to be an LA cop when the worm turns.
Soon the Reverends will drag Droners mom through the different hate America channels.
He shot and killed an unarmed woman.
In the progressive world of Bill Maher, Rachael Maddow, etc, he is a hero.
The guy had already killed 4 cops..Burn baby burn..
“We did not burn it down on purpose”
Oh no thats why there are audio tapes of you cops yelling “burn the MF” and other choice tidbits with the words burn involved.
Lots of dead bodies floating in a sea of lies.
“Burners” are pyrotechnic Tear Gas canisters.
The barn was on fire.
http://www.civilwarhome.com/booth.htm
>>We threatened to burn the barn if he did not surrender; at one time gave him ten minutes to make up his mind. Finally, Booth said, “Oh; Captain, there is a man here who wants to surrender awful bad:” I answered, and I think Mr. Baker did at the same time, “Hand out your arms.” Herold replied, “I have none.” Baker said, “We know exactly what you have got.” Booth replied, “I own all the arms, and intend to use them on you gentlemen.” After some little parley I said, “Let him out.” Some one objected. I ordered Garrett, the younger son, who had the key, to unlock the barn, which he did. I partially opened the door, and told Herold to put out his hand, which he did. I then told him to put [out] his other hand. I took hold of both his wrists and pulled him out of the barn. Almost simultaneous with my taking Herold out of the barn the hay in the rear of the barn was ignited by Mr. Conger, and the barn fired. Sergt. Boston Corbett, Company L, Sixteenth New York Cavalry, shot the assassin Booth, wounding him in the neck.<<
Worse , the liberal cult hero killed an unarmed women.
They could have used sarin gas on his dumb ass for all I care.
I hope he suffered greatly.
Exactly. The guy was a cop-killer. There’s an age-old American tradition of cop-killers not exactly making it far. This was hardly some wildly new scenario. It was downright expected. Just a shame an innocent cabin bit the dust.
Heck, I recall locally here in Texas, when I was in college, a couple of troopers were transporting a convicted multiple-murderer from one prison to another. Well, they stopped at a place for some coffee. And the handcuffed convict “supposedly” tried to escape by jumping out of the car and running into the woods. He had a bullet in his back before he got beyond sight of the car. Exit one scumbag. Nobody even made a stink!

So it is just a coincidence that the incident avoids a long drawn out, intensely covered trial of a black man in Los Angeles, with the chances of a riot at the end.
Lucky coincidence.
Pyrotechnic tear gas has been gone from the barricaded suspect repertoire for the past 30 years for exactly this reason. In the 60 s and 70s we burned down houses just about anytime the old Flight rite round went in.
Unacceptable today. Non-pyro aerosol rounds have been around for three decades. Micro crystallized CS blowers, etc.
But then again wild bursts of gun fire at innocent civilians is also considered impolite. My esteemed colleagues on the left coast seem to have lost their minds. They are after all creatures and products of their parent political systems.
It's what happens when apologists issue apologias, rather than demanding government officials act according to law.
Ya know, in some ways I agree with you.
There was a time when I believed that what I heard reported was the truth, today I'm not so sure.
I find today I have have skepticism on just about everything.
Sad to say ;(
