Only 33.5 Million Watch Obama's SOTU Address, Lowest Since 2000 (Not surprising)

The media are predictably gushing and fawning over Barack Obama's State of the Union address Tuesday, but far fewer Americans watched him speak than did last year.

In fact, this is the lowest viewership of a SOTU address since Obama took office.

According to Nielsen, 33.5 million people watched the address Tuesday evening.

This was down 11.3 percent from the almost 38 million that watched in 2012, and down a staggering 36 percent from the over 52 million that watched his first address in 2009.

Tuesday's viewership also ranked amongst the lowest since Nielsen began tracking these addresses in 1993.

Only Bill Clinton's 2000 address garnered fewer viewers.

Did you see the Michigan-Michigan State game? The Spartans really looked impressive. And then the Blackhawks lost in a shootout.

There was a speech? Huh. I missed it.

I like terriers but I’m hoping the AKC recognizes the American bulldog soon.
The American bulldog is the English bulldog brought over here, before the English crossed it with a pug and bred an athletic working dog into a sluggish house-pet.
It may be because there are two separate `strains’: the Johnson and Scott, but it’s a bulldog and it’s American:
USA! USA! USA!
It’s a lot more fun to talk about real dogs than the mangy mutt in the WH. I take more pride in my dog than the putative president, a lot more .....

I watched the Westminster dog show. Hell of a lot better than the dog turd giving the SOTU speech.

Re: “How did Democrats find a way to convince people that don’t know anything, don’t care, and are suffering economically to all get to the polls.”

One factor - superb organization for “early voting.”

Minneapolis - chartered buses brought groups of new Somali citizens to “early open” polling places.

Miami - after listening to passionate pro-Obama sermons, Black church members were guided directly onto chartered buses and taken to vote “early.”

Second factor - superb targeting of niche Democratic voters in toss up states.

A woman I went to school with is the Director of a tax exempt organization in North Carolina that registers poor white women to vote, provides them with voter information, and gets them to the polls.

Her husband is the principal fund raiser. They are both exceptionally bright and committed. And they both earn well into six figures.

I don't know how Conservatives compete against that.

Certainly NOT by imitation!

Our voting blocs are completely different.

Our political temperament is completely different.

Yet he has a 53% approval and people voted him in for a second term. Just proves that everything about him is fake.

Didn’t watch as I have no TV. But I’ve read the text and several articles and listened to radio reports from Rush, etc.

Seems to me nobama didn’t offer anything new. Even raising the minimum wage (where did that come from?) isn’t a new idea.

His speech was a bunch of previously cooked lies warmed up in the microwave. Yeech.

The sporting breeds are my favorites though I've owned Irish Wolfhounds along with English and Irish Setters and an English Springer. There is no way I could choose one over another.

There was a great hockey game on so I had to pick and choose, watch the game or throw up listening to all Obumbo’s lies. My team won in a “shoot out”.

Personally, I can’t stand to look at or hear Odumbo, the creep.

The Cult is still strong. They were just busy watching the shootout.
