Police say two heavily armed men fatally shot a homeowner as he tried to protect his daughter during a home invasion.
The incident happened late Tuesday night in Miami. The father, identified as Maurice Harris, 36, got into a struggle with the suspects when they tried to gain entry into his 11-year-old daughter's bedroom, police told FoxNews.com. The father was fatally shot in the struggle.
There were no other reports of injuries. The suspects were described as black males.

So their constituents can kill us.
Should have been Bil Maher instead.
Sorry he died! But he died a hero, protecting his daughter!
That is why people need semi-auto pistols and rifles with high-capacity magazines. Among other reasons.
Should have been Bill Maher.
The playing field must never be level.
We should out gun them 500 to 1.
Only the “progressives” , the ones that were rooting for the woman and cop killer , want us disarmed.
He shouldn’t have been unarmed in a war zone.
I do. :-)
Only the progressives , the ones that were rooting for the woman and cop killer , want us disarmed.
So if he died, how did he protect her?
His gun-free zone seems to have worked out well for the guys who invaded his home.
Sounds like they had no interest in the girl.
Did they get robbed?
Short on facts and long on emotion.
Miami. keeping your daughter at the same place as two pounds of cocaine isn’t protection.
So they broke in, menaced his wife with a gun, demanded money and he only “jumped up” when the attempted to enter the girls room?
This story stinks.
There are some details lacking, for sure...
Miami is a sewer. Avoid it.
On Top Gear U.K. (Netflix) Season 9 ep. 2 they go to FL.
Hilarious! Highly Recommended watching.
you are probably closer to the truth that Fox News.
Assuming we can believe what was reported as being accurate, Eyedigress has it nailed.
It’s all supposition, but fill in the blanks...
Gun control is meant to preserve the noble profession of criminal - a major Democrat constituency.
It is a horrible example of today’s journalism.
I have no idea why people give credence to Fox, and it is not just Fox.
There is no critical analysis in the news at all in this country anymore.
It is all just sensationalistic BS.
I know this for a FACT, If the guy is dead and the perps could do what they wanted, He is not “Super Dad”
He may have strived valiantly, but he erred and came up short.
What bugs me is that, they were in the house and menacing his wife with a gun to her head before he ever “jumped up” according to the report.
Sounds like he was sacked out to me.
That does not make him a bad guy or anything, but it sure doesn’t make him a “Super Dad”
Because consuming their product and so enabling them is more important than finding another source of entertainment and thus hamstringing a lib agenda.
Haven’t had Cable/Dish for over 10 years. And I am far better for it.
Lotsa details lacking- we enjoy jumping to conclusions here at FR. If you jump fast and happen to get it right when the facts come out, you become prescient.
I have no clue what really happened.
If as described, there may have been an unreported motive for the invasion.
If I intimate an unsubstantiated hypothesisis, than I am no more than a speculator.
Well, they did provide one bit of damning commentary:
“The suspects were described as black males. “
There is no objective journalism anymore. There is no longer any incentive to remain objective. Only exception would be the case of wheat-weaving or some such nonsense no one pays attention to.
Fox gave the race of the perps, the media doesn’t like that..
You can’t make judgments after reading a pathetic writeup like that. Plus, it’s based on the first statements of traumatized family members who witnessed the killing.
48 hour rule on this story.
“The suspects were described as black males.”
Wow, there’s a shocker.
Indeed...you are no longer paying the salaries of Bill Maher, Rachel Maddow, Ed Schultz, and other communist filth. Hell...you aren't even paying Sean Hannity's salary.
And as a former LEO I can vouch for the fact based upon my personal experience that they commit the majority of violent crimes by a very LONG shot. If it’s a home invasion or armed robbery 99.9% of the time it will be black males. It something the black population will not admit even if you stack all of the reports on their desks to prove it to them. They will just say it’s because there are a lot more white cops and they are just targeting “us”. Excuse me ma’am but we don’t sit around at gas stations or houses waiting for black peeps to commit crimes we just answer all the calls that come in when victims and witnesses report them. I guess they are targeting black people too. You just can’t reason with them.
I smell a home invasion on a drug dealer. Very common. Commonly ends up with someone getting shot too.
The pubbies and the NRA should make an ad describing this incident to the public. You can bet this incident won’t be a focus of the MSM.
Now there's a surprise! Not that the criminals were black males, but that the media actually reported the race of the criminals when they were black.
And yes, absolutely hilarious!
Also, “assault weapons” are modern sporting rifles, rifle, gun or pistol.
They are “defense weapons”, not assault weapons. 99.99% of defense-weapon owners never use it for assault, only use it for defense and target shooting. An assault weapon must have full-automatic capability, or it is just a defense weapon.
If he only had an AR 15 with a hi capacity magazine the world would be rid of two vermin and a little girl would have her dad.
Please refer to post 34.
I’ll never understand why people who live in these urban feral-playgrounds don’t have throughout their house a variety of weapons, including guns, knives, wasp spray, small aluminum baseball bats and so forth. Are they just high on “hopium”...hoping that nothing happens to them?
Bull crap! They are high-capacity magazines. Your PC version of things is a big a bag of puke as any liberal PC.
Well, duh! Did I say anything about "assault weapons?"
Pay no attention to post #34. He’s fulla crap.
Hey there cry baby surrender monkey. This comes from people who are key in the idustry like for example the National Shooting Sports Foundation, Tom Gresham, Ted Nugent and the NRA so stuff it.
What has erroneously been termed an “assault weapon” is a semi-automatic firearm (Modern Sporting Rifle) that fires just one bullet with each pull of the trigger (versus a fully automatic firearm — machine gun — which continues to shoot until the trigger is released). Specifically, legislation has incorrectly defined an “assault weapon” as a semi-automatic firearm that can accept a detachable magazine and has two or more of the following cosmetic features (it is these cosmetic features that distinguish the firearm from other “non-assault weapons.”):
Above, a San Jose (Calif.) police officer effectively explains the differences between fully automatic military rifles and semi-automatic military look-alike rifles and why there is confusion about them.
Above, radio personality Tom Gresham speaks to journalists about tactical rifles during a seminar at the Professional Outdoor Media Association’s annual meeting. The seminar, sponsored by NSSF, provided writers with a hands-on introduction to tactical rifles. Many media members said it was their first experience with the rifles and came away with a new understanding of these frequently misunderstood firearms and accurate information to provide in columns and stories.
Aim for Accuracy: Take a look at NSSF’s online Writer’s Guide to Firearms and Ammunition for facts, data, examples of common inaccuracies and a complete glossary of firearm- and ammunition-related terms.
A folding or telescoping stock
A pistol grip
A bayonet mount
A flash suppressor, or threads to attach one
A grenade launcher
None of these features figure into the criminal misuse of firearms, regardless of their appearance.
Whether with a traditional muzzleloader or a modern sporting rifle, the ABCs of good shooting are the key to putting your shots on target. Watch Chris Fry, training director at Modern Defensive Training Systems, show you the basics of proper sight alignment and sight picture, plus proper breathing, trigger control and follow-through.
Due to Reed Exhibitions’ refusal to reconsider their decision to ban Modern Sporting Rifles from the February 2-10 Eastern Sports Show in Harrisburg, PA, the National Rifle Association has decided to withdraw from the show. We had called on Reed Exhibitions to reconsider their decision; unfortunately they have steadfastly refused to do so. As a result, the NRA will not be participating in the upcoming show in Harrisburg or in any other shows hosted by Reed Exhibitions that maintain this policy. We are disappointed that Reed Exhibitions has ignored the concerns expressed by attendees, the outdoor industry and the NRA in not reconsidering their position to ban the display of Modern Sporting Rifles.
Who’s full of crap?
You lose, nutcase.
Just cause you say so? Guess what no sale.
By using the anti-gun lingo you have surrendered to them.
They now control the dialogue for you.
I will stand with the NRA, Tom Gresham and the Nuge rather than a surrender monkey like you.
You started the insults. Want to really play? Looser.
You could have saved yourself some time with that long cut&paste post about 'assault weapons' if you had read this response but I guess you're too much of a dumbass to understand what it meant.
AND you of poor reading comprehension I ADDED the assault weapons comment after I posted the magazine comment for the benefit of others since you clearly have surrendered to the gun control agenda.
See surrender - again.
You started the insults. Instead of making a point you called me “full of crap”.
What your great intellect can’t make a point without insults?
You’re a kook. There is really little more to say.
