Ok...bear with me...this stupid story has been in the news for a week and I CAN'T STAND IT ANYMORE!
The freaking cruise ship adrift in the gulf. Conditions are horrible. Bathrooms don't work. People are putting their waste everywhere. It's in the halls, running down the walls.
EXCUSE ME! HOW STUPID CAN THESE PEOPLE BE?
You are IN THE MIDDLE OF THE OCEAN! If nothing else there have to be plenty of buckets, flower pots and other containers everywhere. Use them and throw it over the side!
There are lots of other more inventive ways as well including ripping toilets out and re-positioning them near the rail. Then run some pipe over the edge. Haul water up for flushing.
Among the thousands of people and crew aboard NO ONE KNOWS HOW TO TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES????? Have they never been camping or lived on a farm?
The ignorance of those people is stunning! Just one of many reasons I would never go on a cruise!
I’ve barely been following that story and I wondered that myself! Good grief! How did that ship come to be in that predicament anyway? And isn’t anybody on the way to rescue them or repair the problem? I need to be brought up to speed on the entire situation.
They are being towed and should reach port in Alabama later today. That ship has had serious engine and operating problems on the last several trips!
Another strange thing is that Carnival and other ships have been close enough to transfer some supplies. Couldn’t passengers been evacuated? Unless there are heavy seas I would think lifeboats coould be used.
Oh good grief! Do you hear Jim talking about sexual reasignment surgeries for students?? LGBTQ? Questioning?

Our local university - IUP - is extremely liberal. I’m sure you’ve heard Jim talk about it. They have a large LGBT group. They proudly march in the homecoming parade every year. Mr S and I no longer attend the parade. At least since our son graduated from high school and marched with the high school band.
I’m sick of hearing about racism and homophobia. Stop whining, and you LGBT types keep your nocturnal activities to yourselves! I’m sick of hearing about it!
I’m glad son is graduated and out of IUP. Speaking of son - he and wife are moving this weekend. He toured the place and sent her the pictures and she ok’d it. She didn’t get to see the place until Tuesday. They are looking forward to moving to Pittsburgh. We have a good excuse to visit ‘down home’ as my mom used to call Pittsburgh. She was born in South Side in 1926.

Is this the son who’s moving to Lawrenceville? I haven’t lived there for a while, but he will definitely be in the minority.
When I first moved to the East End in the early 1990s, I was approached on the street by a woman who wanted me to sign a petition for a Democrat candidate. When I told her I was a Republican, she looked at me like I was an alien from outer space. Whenever I went to vote, they had separate lines for Democrats and Republicans for some reason. I never had to wait in line.
So while he may feel out of place for a while, I think he’ll do fine. ;-)
Dittos on what rwi said. He’ll be fine. When I was there with my business it was easy to “feel” the staunch dem ...infection. However there was a small but growing group with more conservative views...Reagan democrats.
One of the stranger incidents happened when I spent a summer taking oldest son to bagpipe lessons at an old school in Lawrenceville. Every Thursday I would take him and wait. There was a library nearby so I spent the time there. Lots of interesting OLD books. The librarians often struck up conversations with me.
One night I found an original CBS writers style guide. In it there was a section explaining that when writing use Democrat not Democratc Party.
The Republican and most other parties are all run democratically. One of the workers and I began talking about it and of course they disagreed.
Next week the book was gone and when I asked about it no one knew anything about it.
I hope his being Republican doesn’t get in the way of his getting a job. He’s still working here in Indiana, but putting in applications in Pittsburgh. I’d better tell him to keep mum on the politics, though I don’t think that will be a problem. He knows when it’s better to keep his mouth shut about some things. Hopefully he’ll be able to influence some of the libs in the area!
