Rubio water-swig replay tally: MSNBC 155, CNN 34, Fox News 12
Daily Caller ^ | Feb. 14, 2013 | Jeff Poor

“Zero Dark Thirsty,” “Swing and a Miss,” “Parch Madness,” “Tough Swallow,” “Just Add Water,” and “Water Under the Bridge” were a handful of the phrases used on-air by MSNBC on Wednesday to mock Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio for awkwardly pausing to take a sip of water while delivering the official Republican response to the State of the Union address.

Throughout the broadcast day, between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m. EST, MSNBC showed a replay of Rubio’s swig approximately 155 times — 101 of which came during “The Rachel Maddow Show,” which played the moment on loop at the bottom of the screen for more than 13 minutes.

One MSNBC personality even used props to get a few extra jabs in.

“With the Republican’s savior [Marco] Rubio’s big night — and what a night it was,” MSNBC “PoliticsNation” host Al Sharpton shouted on-air at one point, before leaning sharply to his right and retrieving a small bottle of water. “OK, OK, where was I?” he asked incredulously, while drinking some of the water. “Sen. Rubio laid out the right-wing vision for America. And oh, what was I saying? Rubio bent the truth last night.”

The correct position when the bongomaster is speaking is with your face in the carpet and your a** in the air.

Is it no wonder that MSNBC is drowning in low ratings?

Even though it was awkward...couldn’t the water have been placed in an easier place to reach?...the media’s fixation on this was outrageously sophomoric. How can they be taken seriously when pulling stunts such as this?

That used to give me comfort. But it doesn't anymore. As dumb as they are, people are listening. This last election convinced me of that.

MSNBC is simply a conglomeration of the communist bias that is going on in media and entertainment today.

They are active and willing accomplices in the destruction of our Constitution.

We have to find a way to effectively fight back against them. The entire leftist movement appears to be gaining steam and the media is as brazen as ever.

In my opinion, we need to find a way to suck as much money out of Comcast's (and other orgs) bottom line as possible.

I agree the fixation is absurd, and COMPLETELY overshadowed the SOTU itself.

On the other hand, when are the Republicans going to realize that making a PROFESSIONAL LOOKING presentation does matter.

Who is doing the media work for them? After Jindal’s debacle? Who couldn’t come up with a desk for Rubio to be behind and a glass of water for him to drink from??

From my perspective, you’re about ten years late to the party. ;-)

‘Course, I have not had TV since 1997 and when I AM exposed to it it’s like watching a bunch of high school kids trying to appear adult.

Oh, and that includes Fox.

The media is not objective. They swim with the sharks now and they have jumped the shark. All they do is activism for the left. Even Fox News with Karl Rove, Bob Becjel and soon Scott Brown.

MSNBC exists to make the standard left-wing media bias appear moderate.

Also, it gives mainstream media exposure to radical Marxist ideas that previously were confined to university humanities departments.

If the Left is going to propagandize on MSNBC, we must answer back with a show or a channel demonstrating on a nightly basis how patently stupid and hypocritical the Democrat Party is. FOX News is not that answer.

I agree...and by the way, sketch-comedy and parody is not the answer.
