(CBS News) Just weeks after the 100th anniversary of President Richard Nixon's birth, a new exhibit at his presidential library is raising eyebrows. It contains newly declassified documents that reveal Nixon's correspondence with President Bill Clinton, and a surprisingly warm relationship between the two.

The correspondence includes a personal, handwritten letter from Nixon congratulating Clinton on surviving a tough primary and general election to win the White House. That letter was the beginning of an unlikely union between the former Republican president and the newly elected Democratic chief executive.

I guess they were comparing lying techniques. Actually Nixon was probably fascinated how Clinton got away with all the crap he did..”Um Billy, they got me on one gate but you had 10 million of ‘em! How did you do it?”

No, indeed...Nixon wasn't the fire-breathing conservative his detractors loved to revile. But there's something else at work here. At the time, Nixon was a member of the world's second most exclusive (2ME) club: living former presidents. Clinton was the only member of the world's most exclusive (ME) club: sitting presidents. Just about every member of the ME club will eventually join the 2ME club eventually, and every person who a member of the 2ME club understands the pressures of being in the ME club. They may see fit to call the ME club member and offer guidance where they can.

Nixon and Clinton were also members of two other very exclusive groups: Presidents who resigned the office in the face of pending impeachment, in the case of Nixon, and presidents who were actually impeached, tried and acquitted. The two of them could swap stories about executive legal intrigue beyond anything the average person could imagine. They had a great deal in common with one another.

The only thing that could be called conservative about Nixon was his anti-communism.

Even though he did just about everything else the leftists wanted as president that alone was enough for our domestic communists to hate his guts.

This is about a former president reaching out to the current president. This was done all the time when Presidents were not ego maniacs. I recall a story of Eisenhower quietly admonishing Kennedy on the lawns of the White House over the Bay of Pigs. He never went public and it was done in good faith. What is astonishing to me is that Reagan, Bush and now we hear Nixon was very classy to Clinton; obviously a trait he did not adapt in his life and reciprocate to future presidents.

That's funn-eee. Anti-communist.

Let's see. Who took it upon himself to ok the Council on Foreign Relations (globalists) plan to open up trade with commmunist China ?

The CFR "think tank" was writing about that YEARS before it happened.

Famous 3 little words keep popping up: new world order.

Wait, I smell some coffee, I have to go have a cup.

Clinton: I'm not a crook.

Nixon: And I'm not a pervert.

That was based more on political opportunism than ideology.

Maybe, but regardless of his motives he was still anti-communist at the time and that is primarily why the left hated him.

They are both victims of Hillary’s haranguing.
One in marriage. The other in the Watergate debacle.
In both cases she goes right for the balls.
Misery loves company.

President Nixon, for whom I voted twice, was some what paranoid. That was probably due to the fact that so many people were out to get him, don’t you think?

No. Clinton was impeached, tried and acquitted by the Senate. But resignation and impeachment are two things that don’t happen to most presidents, but one or the other did happen to Nixon and Clinton. In the time after Clinton’s acquittal and before Nixon’s death, those two were in a club all by themselves. They could no doubt identify with each other in a big way.

Um...Richard Nixon died in 1994. Clinton was impeached and acquitted in 1999.

We can thank Richard Milhouse Nixon for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)....don’t know what that is?

Next time you’re in Walmart at the checkout lane, look around for a Jackson-Hewitt Tax booth....they advertise FREE 1040 submissions! What they are doing is downloading W-2’s for these EBT heiffers and lazy assed reprobates who already collect a government check or electronic payment so they can file their ‘taxes’ and get their ‘refund’.

In actuality, it’s an EITC return. JH does it because most of these leeches can’t with for the multi-thousand dollar checks from the government and opt for JH’s refund anticipation loans (RALs). They sign a few more forms and JH cuts them a frigging check on the spot.

I get so effing pissed every time I see this. Goddam leeches and goddam companies taking a cut of my money.
