Crying Out To God
February 15, 2013
After all these years, I still dont fully understand prayer. Its something of a mystery to me. But one thing I know: When were in desperate need, prayer springs naturally from our lips and from the deepest level of our hearts.
When were frightened out of our wits, when were pushed beyond our limits, when were pulled out of our comfort zones, when our well-being is challenged and endangered, we reflexively and involuntarily resort to prayer. Help, Lord! is our natural cry.
Author Eugene Peterson wrote: The language of prayer is forged in the crucible of trouble. When we cant help ourselves and call for help, when we dont like where we are and want out, when we dont like who we are and want a change, we use primal language, and this language becomes the root language of prayer.
Prayer begins in trouble, and it continues because were always in trouble at some level. It requires no special preparation, no precise vocabulary, no appropriate posture. It springs from us in the face of necessity and, in time, becomes our habitual response to every issuegood and badwe face in this life (Phil. 4:6). What a privilege it is to carry everything to God in prayer!
What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer. Scriven
Gods help is only a prayer away.
Read: Psalm 142

Funny, this morning I was just thinking about ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT. I liked PURPLE HEART, CAINE MUTINY, GREAT ESCAPE — quite a few, interestingly. There are many I’d still like to see — mostly older ones, which were at least respectful of the military.

A PRAYER OF PROTECTION
The light of God surround you The love of God enfold you The power of God protect you The presence of God watch over you Wherever you are, God is, And all is well. Amen.
BLESS THIS HOUSE Bless this house O Lord we pray; Make it safe by night and day;
Bless these walls so firm and stout, Keeping want and trouble out:
Bless the roof and chimneys tall, Let thy peace lie over all;
Bless this door, that it may prove ever open to joy and love.
Bless these windows shining bright, Letting in God's heav'nly light;
Bless the hearth a'blazing there, with smoke ascending like a prayer;
Bless the folk who dwell within, keep them pure and free from sin;
Bless us all that we may be Fit O Lord to dwell with thee;
Bless us all that one day we May dwell O Lord with thee.

Good evening Beachbabe & thank you for this evening’s thread.
So Many to choose from & may I add the series Band Of Brothers to the mix.
When We Were Soldiers came out Sonboy was on spring break as I believe.
I took a day off to spend time with him & do some fun things together.
We decided to see the movie.
When the movie let out we were so devastated & I was crying the cry baby I am. We waited until everyone else left the theater so I could compose myself.
We got in the car & I asked him if he wanted to go anywhere else.
He said...”can we just go home?”
Very powerful.

My personal favorite is "Gone With the Wind".
This scene never fails to choke me up as the camera rises and pans the entire railyard.
I'm slaving away at Stephen Foster's music, and I should have it ready for tomorrow and Saturday. That man was a prolific writer!

"The Sand Pebbles" - (1966) Steven McQueen aboard a U.S. gunboat in China, during the 1920s.
"The Battle of the Bulge" (1965) - Robert Shaw is superb as "Col. Hessler" (based on Joachim Peiper). Good performance by Telly Savalas, as "Sgt. Guffy".
"Kelly's Heroes" - Clint Eastwood.

I hope you had a great Valentine's Day, Kathy.
Our tradition is that I cook Scampi for Mrs. MacNessa on Valentine's Day. We haven't gone out for dinner on Valentine's Day for over 20 years. I used a new recipe this year - more complicated than the one I had been using, but finished product was was well worth it. Got the recipe online - it's from Emiral.
It says 10 minutes prep. time and 10 minutes cooking. It took me about 15 or 20 minutes to peel the shrimp. Then additional time to cut the onions and garlic, etc.
Nevertheless, it was well received by Mrs. MacNessa - quite tasty if I say so myself. :)
