The cradle of the Arab Spring is increasingly looking like the birthplace of jihadists.
Long before Tunisia ousted its dictator and inspired the North African pro-democracy movement, the small, relatively prosperous country had the more dubious distinction of exporting Islamic militants. Now, as the country wrestles with the creation of a new government after the killing of a liberal opposition leader, experts say the flow of fighters is getting worse.
The repressive measures of the old secular dictatorship fueled the anger that produced jihadi movements, but its ruthless security apparatus also kept them largely in check. Inquiring minds want to know:
Did Obama or Clinton send agents or the Ambassador to
give them MANPADs and Fast&Furious weapons, too?

Tunisia was aways the most western of the Mahgreb. It had a heavy Italian and French influence and its ruler for decades was the westernized Habib Bourgiba. Unlike its rowdy neighbors, Tunisia was a sedate nation with minimal violence. Are the former represive Soviet block countries now on a jihad? No. So the first premis is false. The second premise is a Tautology. No argument from me. The writer is trying to forgive Muslims of their underlying objectives. Journalists are the new enemy.
There was never a “democracy movement.” The rebels were always Muslim terrorists. And the “repressive dictator” of Syria did what he did to try to keep the Muslim fanatics from doing what they love to do—rape, enslave, and cut off heads of anyone who doesn’t submit to them.
No, the old Tunisia wasn’t a democracy. You can’t have a democracy anywhere where Muslims are in the majority, eager to engage in their usual habits. But it was relatively civilized, a good place to visit, and friendly to Westerners. No longer.
Exactly what any sensible person expected. But the commie press thought—and still thinks—differently. They never learn.
All should be banned from entering the country.
