Russian nuclear bombers intercepted near Guam
U.S. military officials tell NBC News that two Russian bombers, capable of carrying nuclear cruise missiles, circled the U.S. island of Guam in the Western Pacific this week. U.S. Air Force F-15 jets scrambled from Andersen Air Force Base on Guam to intercept the bombers.
According to one military official, the Russian Bear bombers remained in international airspace, the encounter between the U.S. and Russian aircraft stayed professional and there was no incident. The official said its impossible to determine whether the Russian bombers carried any nuclear weapons.

Peace breaking out everywhere.
You got to hand it to Obama.
You fly nuclear bombers around Guam and we will blast you with a giant meteor.
Bet they don’t mess with Guam again.
Russians are probably just probing. Trying to find out if Obama will curl up in the fetal position when faced with a challenge and no sycophant media running cover for him.
Remember the Georgia Demoncrat US Rep. (the first to endorse President Pinhead in 2008) who expressed concern that Guam might “tip over”?
Maybe not, it didn’t get much traction anywhere but here.
But Marco Amnesty’s sip of water got 155 replays on MSNBC in one day (thread below)?
And people wonder why we freepers can be so peckish ...
This is where the Ø regime can maximize our strengths. In case of nuclear attack on Guam, by shifting the population just a tad, the underside of the island can be tipped, and thus shifted, in-effect to use it as a protective shield. Perhaps we elected geniuses after all!
Obama was unavailable for comment.
John Kerry please pick up the courtesy phone. Russia just responded to your phone call.
That explains the fighters buzzing my apartment the other night
Ah, yes. The incomparable Hank Johnson (D-GA).
I still think the USN Admiral he was questioning deserves an award for keeping a straight face and not collapsing in uncontrolable laughter.
Ditto. Our Military is very PROFESSIONAL!
When the phone rings at 2 am Obama rolls over and pulls the covers up over his head.
When it comes to our ambasadors in muslim nations Obama has a YOYO policy. You’re On Your Own
Maybe conservatives are losing because so many have that attitude.
Obama has instructed his people to never allow his phone to ring at night.
Maybe the relentless nastiness of conservatives are part of the reason why they are becoming irrelevant.
A normal person might say “I know with Obama in power this appears troubling, but I do think it is any thing to worry about.”
But a conservative will invariably be smug and nasty. It really is off - putting a big reason why the Tea Party collapsed.
I have been a member here since 2005 (with another name) and I used to contribute generously, but the just plain meanness and the attacks to get new people banned - I can see why conservatives are getting such a bad reputation.
Conservatives are losing because someone disagreed with you on an FR thread?
Mighty trollish of you n
Get over yourself.
Yeah, yeah... every retread and concern troll “used to contribute generously”... Sort of like “walking uphill both ways to school in knee deep snow.”
What was your prior incarnation?
One good thing that has developed out of the confidence building measures is a bomber exchange program.. 2013 should see Russian bombers visiting Barksdale
Russian strategic bombers to visit U.S. Two Russian Tupolev Tu-95MS strategic bombers will fly to the Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana, United States, in 2013 under an agreement reached during a recent visit of senior officers from the Russian Long-Range Air Force to the United States, Long-Range Air Force commander Lt. Gen. Anatoly Zhikharev said on Tuesday. Zhikharev made the announcement at a news conference.
There will also be a return visit in 2013 - two American [Boeing] B-52 strategic bombers will land at our air force base in Engels, Saratov region, in 2013," he said. U.S. officers are due to pay an inspection visit to the Russian base next week, he added.
