Cheaper Than Dirt just made the largest single contribution to the Second Amendment Foundation and first “Diamond Level” donation of $100,000. The Second Amendment Foundation is pretty happy about this.
“The level of support from CheaperThanDirt both delighted and shocked me,” said Second Amendment Foundation director Ray Carter. “SAF has never before received a single donation of this size and by itself Cheaper Than Dirt’s contribution will make possible a major expansion of SAF legal action and education efforts. We are privileged to consider Cheaper Than Dirt a partner in our efforts.”
“Created in response to the generous donation from Cheaper Than Dirt, the Diamond level of sponsorship indicates the highest level of support for SAF’s continued efforts to restore firearms rights ‘one lawsuit at a time,’ as SAF founder Alan Gottlieb explains it.”
This will come as a surprise to many people who hold Cheaper Than Dirt in another light: a company that capitalized on the recent nation-wide gun-buying spree by inflating prices many times over what their pre-panic levels were.

Well, after that last cluster —— about selling firearms (I don’t fault them for jacking their prices, though their name ain’t correct any more!), I am glad to see them trying to make amends. That is a pretty good donation.

When shipping costs more than multiple products cost, it's time to cancel the order... I've cancelled as many orders as I've bought.

Exactly. Gun owners won’t soon forget nor forgive their price gouging.
At least they have got ammo for sale. In the past couple weeks I’ve bought a bunch of 12g, 20g, and 9mm ammo from CTD. No problems.
It’s a start. Let’s see if this is a one-time goodwill gesture.
I’m a regular donor to SAF, but I can’t match that. SAF is worth a donation. A lot of bang for the buck.
I’ve dealt with Cheaper Than Dirt for years, and have no complaints. As far as charges of price gouging, I would defend them in the same light as I did gas stations during after Hurricane Sandy here in NJ: When someone sells you something, they have to replace their stocks. If it will cost more to replace it (as happened with Sandy), then how can they stay in business by selling it at the lower price? Should they sell 1000 gallons of gasoline for only enough money to buy 750 gallons for their underground tanks?
Until the recent rush started depleting stocks this company enjoyed a good reputation and lived up to its name. Never had issues with shipping costs, though I noticed when buying from Amazon that there was some default (that you could switch if you noticed it) that had you selecting expedited delivery. Since I always ordered from Cheaper Than Dirt by phone, it never came up; the operator asked how I wanted it sent, and I could always opt for the standard delivery.
They can make amends by doing two things:
1. Add another zero to the donation (they can afford to with all the profit from the price gouging);
2. Roll back all retail prices and shipping costs to pre-Sandy Hoax levels, effective immediately.
Unless and until those two things happen, they are trying to buy our silence.
Their name should be Cheaper than Diamonds. $99.00 for a stinking Pmag. Give me a break.
I buy camping stuff on there, so I can’t speak for the gun stuff. I’d imagine if they were too overpriced they’d be out of business.
yea what a coincidence they were out of stock of lots of items, after anti gun legislation introduced, chazam in stock at ridiculous prices...no thanks....

Hey, I don’t work for them; buy wherever you want. FReepers were happy to use the same rationale (defending price increases) when gas was rationed after Sandy. I would think that at the same time we’re being told record numbers of guns are being sold there would be a record number of gun accessories being sold as well.
If they went out of business tomorrow my life wouldn’t change one bit; I’m sure Obama and his ilk would like to see businesses like this shut down (even though they are the only ones moving product in his “new normal” economy).
I know five people that swore (myself included) they will never buy from dumberthandirt again and three that sent them nasty-grams (myself included) - to include the money we spent on recent purchases elsewhere.........I actually spelled out I paid more $$$ money elsewhere for certain items.
I used to look forward to the catalogues in the mail....now my trash can gets that pleasure as I don't even open the front cover of them anymore.
They never have the ammo I want and their prices are not cheaper than dirt.
