A team of FBI agents has been conducting interviews in recent weeks in the Dominican Republic and the United States, looking into allegations that Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) patronized prostitutes in the Caribbean nation, but has found no evidence to support the claim, according to two people familiar with the investigation.
One person said agents have asked about whether a Florida eye doctor a close friend and major campaign donor to Menendez provided the senator with prostitutes on vacations there. Another person said investigators are looking into allegations involving underage prostitutes and sex parties.
The two, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss an active investigation, said FBI agents are following leads provided by an unknown tipster. In a series of e-mails with the FBI, the tipster alleged that the doctor, Salomon Melgen, had made prostitutes available to Menendez while he was staying at his friends resort home in the Dominican Republic. The tipster, in particular, mentioned young prostitutes and prostitution parties.
The FBI agents are also examining the role Menendez played in advocating for a port security contract in the Dominican Republic that would benefit Melgen, two people familiar with the case said.

So... Wapo is actually mentioning it?
WaPo suddenly discovers the Menendez scandal, but only after “two people familiar with the investigation” leak to WaPo a claim that FBI “has found no evidence to support the claim.” Very convenient for WaPo to have found officials eager to clear Menendez.
I read that Rubio drinks.
Yes, and trying desperately to discredit the accusers.
Sheesh, can’t a guy have any fun and privacy? It’s not like he was getting BJs in the White House./s
Charlie Rangel still has a job.
What’s the point.
There may not be a crime in that country, but it still a crime here for an American to travel abroad for the purposes of sex tourism (with a minor)
Hey. He’s a radical left wing extremist demokkkrat so that means no harm no foul. He’ll say he has a problem and will seek help and everybody will LOVE him all over again. Typical scenario. Depends on what the meaning of “is” is. Besides, “What difference does it make now?” Dissssss-gusting pigs.
a quick web search for “Salomon Melgen” pulled up some interesting links. From Palm Beach Post dot com:
“Menendez, who has received more than $700,000 in direct and indirect campaign help from Melgen and has made personal trips to the Dominican Republic on Melgens private plane, acknowledged last week that his office contacted CMS and raised concerns about billing policies in 2009 and 2012. But Menendez denied trying to intervene with government regulators on Melgens behalf.” Melgen also sold some kind of data mining tech company “Seisint” to LexisNexis for 775 million, supposedly to help catch terrorists. The honeypot scheme is an old trick used to help blackmail politicians. I wonder if Menendez DID use Colombian prostitutes. I wonder if those hookers were underage, and if they were all indeed female. That’s an old used trick especially by Mossad types. There’s a lot more to this than just Menendez visiting some hookers in Colombia.
“The honeypot scheme is an old trick used to help blackmail politicians.”
That is so dangerous! JFK was the worst sucker for honey pots (mafia, KGB, even Marilyn Monroe might have been one), although he was also protected by the MSM same as Barry is.
They'd fight this investigation tooth and nail if there was any possibility Menendez would be implicated. This tells me that any loose ends have already been tied up (killed?). There's no paper trail, no credible witnesses, no photos or recordings.
I mean, this is illegal activity - did you expect to find signed checks?
Yeah, who would be stupid enough to write a check to a hooker?
Gay State Conservative.
Shouldn’t the Dominican authorities be investigating this?
The entire country of DR is run by a cabal of crooks who own their own condos at the same resort.
They should have sent the Secret Service. Then they would have found the prostitutes.
After reading of some of the things the F.B.I. has done in the past I believe it an outlaw organization,
A vote of NO CONFIDENCE.
Does anyone really expect Holders FBI to find evidence against a Democrat?
No no no.
He was ministering to troubled young girls.
The same FBI “investigators” who made it to Benghazi 3 weeks after the attack, and spent 15 minutes on scene.
“Nothing here. Next case.”
I agree, the Holder/Obama DOJ is 100% political.
Surprise, surprise! How much do you think it would cost to pay off some 16 year old chick who accepts 200 bucks to have sex with some old fool from the US?
This has to be read with skepticism-—the FBI does not comment on ongoing investigations. OTOH—why don’t we read more about Menendez’s dirty deeds?
Because.....Senor Bob has been very astute in labeling all charges raised against him as “right-wing.” In liberal/land, “right-wing” is code for horrid things like “religious judgementalism,” “moral certitude,” “pious negativism.”
Sexual charges are especially immune from penalty——the US has been transformed into the “fully fornicating society”-—thanks to tax-funded Planned Parenthood’s genital-sniffing activities in our school K-12.
The Obama/Menendez crowd see themselves as a tight-knit clique bound together by “enlightened values” those of reason, tolerance, diversity, equality. Remember that Obama campaigned on a “better life, of hope and change.”
To paraphrase their intellectual mentor, author, Saul Alinsky, “They do not have a fixed truth — truth to them is relative and changing..... they are free from the shackles of dogma.” (from his book Rules for Radicals)
Course one might observe all that “reason, tolerance, diversity and equality” sounds an awful lot like the “People’s Temple.” Jim Jones, too, promised a “better life of hope and change” to the diverse crowd that blindly followed him to a place from which there was no escape.
