According to a new study by the George Soros-funded Center for Economic Policy and Research, minimum wage should be $21.72 an hour to keep up with the increase of worker productivity.
Highlighting that study, The Huffington Post bemoaned President Barack Obamas call for a higher minimum wage as a far cry from what workers really deserve, in a Feb. 13 blog post.
Every time the US raises the minimum wage, more citizens lose their jobs, and more Illegals are employed.
They should name it the "Illegal Alien Employment Act of 2013"
This is the same Huffington Post where contributing writers were not paid and took umbrage when its former owner, Ms. Huffington, sold it for, oh, what was it ?$325M?
They would really lay out there entire agenda, if they had any truth in them:
at the same time, set a maximum wage of $30, not including politicians, and other “essential elites”.
Then set the income tax at 95% and no deductions, and out of that the government provides you with free room & board & clothes; free education, and a guaranteed job; and free health & dental care; and an all-important set of papers.
Shoot anyone who won’t work or disagrees, after sending all the counter-revolutionary & dissident teachers, professors, and scientists to reeducation camps in rural Alaska, after confiscating all private property, and nationalizing all businesses.
Raise the minimum to $21.72 and 75% of the college degree carrying burger flippers in the country will be looking for new jobs.
Why be so cheap? I can’t live with dignity on $22 an hour! Doesn’t the Huff and Puff Post care about me?
The minimum wage must be $1,000 an hour. That way everyone will be in the top 1% and we can tax the hell out of them. No one will be poor. Then we can begin to reduce the deficit.
The first and last paragraph of my new shortbook, “Economics for Occupy Dummies.”
Oops. I didn’t see your post until after I posted my $26. Sorry, wasn’t trying to be Joe Biden.
exactly, and they will love $200 loaves of bread
Arrgh. I’ve got $$ on the brain. That should be #26, of course.
This is getting pushed partially as a payback to unions, whose wage rate is often tied to a multiple of minimum wage.
‘Why not raise it to a minimum of a million dollars a year? That way we would all be millionaires and nobody would be poor!’
MUY BUENO Senor Pack....que buena idea..es por los ninos, depues de todo’
Sure, sounds good, Lefties! Go ahead and raise the minimum wage to $21.00 and let’s see what happens. I think we should do it in California first.
Partially? Fully.
And I love that picture of the ladder without rungs. It explains precisely what is going on here.
I am sure Mrs. Huffing-ton can afford a $20.00 Big Mac and a $10.00 soda for lunch but I can’t. Or does she think the cost of a high minimum wage will not have to be passed on to the customer.
How much does the Huffington Post pay its employee?
A minimum wage of $21.72 is completely insane!
Nobody in their right mind would ever go to college again. Why go $20,000+ in debt and battle through sleepless nights to master hard subjects just so that you can make the same wage as a pot smoking high school dropout?!
If you reward a lack of education, creativity, and productivity then the result is a country on par with the worst that the undeveloped world has to offer.
