Rand Paul: Something Depraved is Rising In The Country
The Blaze ^ | Billy Hallowell

Posted on 02/15/2013 9:01:18 PM PST by JohnPDuncan

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) appeared on Glenn Beck’s radio show this morning to discuss a variety of topics. After commenting about the need to combat President Barack Obama’s use of executive power, the politician dove into the spiritual realm. Noting that he believes America’s problems run deeper than political schisms, Paul called for a spiritual awakening and revival.

The senator made his comments about the need for faith leaders to rise up and called for increased religious fervor after Beck asked him about his own spiritual well-being.

Paul said that when he was first running for office he appreciated people telling him that they were praying for him, but that he didn’t take these pledges seriously enough. Now, he sees inherent value in these prayers and well-wishes — and he believes the nation should adopt similar sentiments.

“I think that our country needs a spiritual cleansing,” Paul told Beck. “I really think we need a revival in this country — and I do need your prayers and I do need the strength to go on with this, because this isn’t always easy.”

He went on to call for religious leaders to come forward and to help deal with the issues at hand and said that something is needed (i.e. God) that is “bigger than any politician.”

“I think our country’s problems are deeper than political — that we need spiritual leaders to come forward. We need something beyond just the politics of the day and, you know, I see it everywhere — something really depraved is rising in the country,” he continued.

Rand Paul: Something Depraved is Rising In The Country

It's called the spirit of antichrist and it has an "anti-messiah".

“I think that our country needs a spiritual cleansing,”

quite.

A nation that aborts 55 million kids ... that elects a depraved pervert as president ... TWICE ... that elects a demonic socialist as president ... TWICE ...

That nation's problems are spiritual, not political.

True, the “body of Christ” as I understand it - in this country anyway - is in a lot of non-denominational churches, home churches, or non churched to a degree. Many “churches” are just buildings where people meet on Sundays.

I’ve been saying every preacher in this country should be screaming from the pulpit every Sunday on what’s happening in this country. More than just saying “I pray for the president. I don’t agree with him but I pray for him.” (I heard one say that.)

I find comfort knowing that justice will be done, but sad that it will be dealt to my country which was once great, but has made such bad choices.

We are on a downward slide, and the bottom of the hill isn’t pretty. Even if we were to ban abortion now, which we should, the justice coming to our country for past evil will be due.

A short but insightful quote from Solzhenitsyn. It came to him during his time in the Gulag:

…. It was only when I lay there on rotting prison straw that I sensed within myself the first stirrings of good. Gradually it was disclosed to me that the line separating good and evil passes not through states, nor between classes, nor between political parties either, but right through every human heart, and through all human hearts. This line shifts. Inside us, it oscillates with the years. Even within hearts overwhelmed by evil, one small bridgehead of good is retained; and even in the best of all hearts, there remains a small corner of evil.

…. If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?”

That doesn’t jibe.

Augustine’s point in City of God. The two cities divide each and every human heart. THey are not two places or two institutions or two types of people. They compete within each person.

“Glen Beck has been calling for spiritual renewal...”

Whose spirit? Glen Beck in a Mormon, an antichrist. He denies that Jesus Christ and the Father are the same God. (1 John 2:22-24) He believes in many gods. Can light and darkness be joined? (2 Corinthians 6:14)

He may put himself forward as a friend of liberty, but he will be true to his false god, not the only God there is (Isaiah 43:10,11)

We can agree to be for liberty, but watch out when the talk veers toward spiritual matters. There can be fellowship. “What concord hath Christ with Belial?” (2 Corinthians 6:15)

Paul called for a spiritual awakening and revival.

He's skipping a step... two, actually...

From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage.

We are just now transitioning from apathy into dependence. THEN we get to bondage. THEN we get to Spiritual Faith.

The Dependence phase will only last about 20 years, I'd say. Then we get to government control like the world hasn't known in a looooong time (thanks to technology). 1984 and Brave New World will look conservative in their predictions. This phase could last a loooong time.

You are the worst kind of Christian. When someone posits the idea that maybe the nation as a whole need to focus more on faith, YOU immediately denigrate anyone isn’t of YOUR faith. You’d rather have faithlessness than to have anyone believe something differently than you believe. Absolutely disgusting. You should feel shame, but I doubt you’re capable of it.

“You are the worst kind of Christian...”

The world loves ignorant Christians who go along to get along. The world hated Jesus Christ. And it will hate Christians who dare to speak the truth. (John 15:18-20)

Jesus made exclusive claims about himself. “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one cometh unto the Father but by me.” (John 14:6). And John concurs “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life, and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life , but the the wrath of God abideth on him.” (John3:36). (I don’t have the time or space to go through all the verses which make this same claim of exclusivity.)

Romans 6:23a says “the wages of sin is death”. Revelation 20:14,15 make it clear that those who trust in their own good works to save them (and not the atoning work of Jesus Christ) will be cast into the lake of fire for all eternity.

Christians who read and believe the Bible understand the eternal consequences of not believing on the Son. A Christian who doesn’t speak this truth boldly will be ashamed when Christ returns. And not addressing the false claims of Mormonism or any other satanic cult he abandons many to the lake of fire. That isn’t loving.

The most important question you must answer is: if you were to die today, where will you spend eternity? What are you trusting in to realize your hope?

I will fight to protect liberty--to the death, if need be. But when a call is made to establish "spiritual renewal", that is where the association ends. I explained this in my post. Did you read it? Paul is making a huge mistake to broach the topic with Beck.

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath Christ with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? (2 Corinthians 6:14)

I know from your comment that you have no clue what I'm talking about. Nor do I expect you to, but I put it forward as the Biblical bases for my rejecting a call to establish "spiritual renewal" with any "infidel" (unbeliever) or worse (someone who believes in a false Christ). For you see, this is the most important issue. More important than this passing age (or de jure constitutional arrangement).

If you were to die today (or in the near future defending liberty), where will you spend eternity? In heaven with God, or somewhere else? Why?

We cannot defend liberty successfully unless we stand together on the spiritual basis of liberty. Regardless of our theological differences, we must make that stand.

I don’t agree with Mormon theology any more than you do but I understand that they are people of faith and family (for the most part — there is always a Harry Reid or two) who are strong defenders of liberty. And right now, that’s where the fight is. I’ll take the allies I can get.

Both of you could have stopped short of going at each others throat, but neither has. Is the ‘stand together’ of Glen Beck’s message not clear enough for you or nonsporting? ... Can you not refrain from focusing on the minor glitch in a fellow Freeper’s assertion, in order to accentuate the positive in the post? Give it a try, it is how ‘standing together’ for liberty gets rolling.
[In the interest of full disclosure: I am a friend of Glen Beck, but not of Mormonism.]

I don’t know how you can ignore the call for “spiritual renewal” and not be disturbed by it. It is not arrogance but a recognition of ignorance or willful disobedience.

“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness?” (2 Corinthians 6:14)

Beck, a Mormon, was calling for spiritual renewal. What spirit? Some blasphemous ecumenical alignment. I think not. I’ll fight for freedom, but not some false common spiritual ground with Satanic systems.

See, calling religions that disagree with you on something or the other “Satanic” only serves to set back, not advance, the spiritual renewal that our beloved country needs.

It's not me they disagree with. It's God they disagree with.

This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:11,12)

Yes. All the rest are false, satanic, a version of what the serpent told Eve in the garden, that by disobeying God, "ye shall be as gods" (Gen 3:5). And the error of "Babylon" is works salvation.

The Bible pleads with men to accept the free gift through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ and not trust in their own works to save them from their sin.

All have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).

The wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23)

Hell is real. He who dies in his sins will be cast into the lake of fire where his torment will rise forever. (Rev 14:10, Rev 20:14,15, Rev 21:8)

God commends his love toward us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us. And it is His desire that all men be saved (Romans 5:10, 1 Timothy 2:4)

Salvation cannot be earned, but can be accepted by faith. (Ephesians 2:8,9, Romans 4:3-5)

Jesus came to his own, but they rejected him. But to as many as received him, to these he gives the power to become Sons of God (to become joint heirs with Christ), specifically, to them that believe on his name. This is what the Bible calls being "born again". The dead spirit within is regenerated/reborn by God. This is spiritual renewal.

America these days is exceedingly wicked. Unborn babies are slaughtered by the millions, thousands each day. The glorification of reprobate evil is everywhere. The only spiritual renewal that will make a difference is individuals coming to God on His terms.

See, calling religions that disagree with the Bible as something other than Satanic only serves to set back, not advance, the spiritual renewal that our beloved country needs.
