But the law that was so tough on law-abiding gun owners had quite a different impact on criminals.

Simple cause and effect. Disarm honest citizens and criminals will reign. Increase taxes to support government spending on unemployment, you get less private sector spending and more unemployment. Liberalism is based on ignoring the laws of nature and the principles of economics.

Without the great equalizer that guns are, disarming the law abiding puts weak, elderly and women at severe disadvantage to the common prison hardened gangbanger. Most other law abiding men are at disadvantage to more than one.

If an armed society is a polite society, then an unarmed society is the worst of the bully on the playground, only much worse.

The Boston Globe is hard core communist in basic assumptions. For an article such as this to be published in the Globe may be reason for slight hope what was once the cradle of the American Revolution abandoning the communism which they have dabbled with since the “Starving Winter”.

Hopefully, Taxachussetts may once again decide to support the Constitution. Could it be possible Taxachussetts may someday have a Pooblik Skrewl Collective purged of communism sufficient to have a curriculum based on the writings of the Founders instead of Marx and Mao?

From the liberal Boston Globe? Wow. I've been reading more and more from liberal media sources about this wrong-headed approach to gun violence. There is no longer ANY doubt that strict gun laws actually increase crime.

What I don't ever hear discussed is that if the manufacturing and sales of guns were outlawed tomorrow, and after some wimps turning in their weapons, there would still be 10's of millions of guns and billions of rounds of ammunition that still exist. Guns are a very durable product as are cartridges; both can last decades if properly stored.

You also never hear the socialists discuss the fact of a black market from imported weapons/ammo. Think how well the war on drugs has worked out. Drugs still come in.

Plus, they never discuss how they would enforce a total ban. There will never be enough resources for house to house confiscation in a population of some 80 million gun owners. Registration won't work because millions simply won't do it, so BATFE and other agencies just wouldn't know who owns what, except for the few informants they can corral.

My partial solution -signs in all places where people gather in mass, and/or your own home:

THIS IS NOT A GUN FREE ZONE!

Criminals don't want law abiding people to have guns in their homes - or locks on their doors.

Guns can hurt children - and locks can keep firemen from getting in quickly to save a child... so criminals and democrats ( I repeat myself) want to 'save the children'... no guns. no locks...

Not that I'm implying a pattern or anything...

From Jeff Jacoby

An Op-Ed columnist and nationally recognized conservative voice, Jacoby was hired from the Boston Herald in 1987.

“Massachusetts probably has the toughest laws on the books, but what happens is people go across borders and buy guns and bring them into our state,” rationalizes Boston Mayor Tom Menino. “Guns have no borders.”

Hey, "Mumbles Menino": When we entered MA in 1980 to begin our 20-year "MA Exile", at the border we encountered a sign stating that it was a crime to bring any firearm into MA.

So it took passing other dumb@$$ laws to prove that earlier one did not work?

Since the Boston bombers also had at least one gun, I thought I would post on this thread again. It’s an excellent read.

They also had grenades and supposedly other military grade explosives. They could have just as easily walked into a gun free school zone and blown the legs off of hundreds of children. Instead, a child lost his life and other children and adults lost their limbs at the marathon.

The liberals need to wake up and stop coddling terrorists. Let the American people protect ourselves and not interfere with our constitutional right to bear arms.

Jacoby is the token conservative. The paper’s overwhelming and official position is opposite Jacoby, and comes close to ridiculing him.
