Local reports stated police believe he may have used the bat to attack girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp before shooting her dead on St Valentine's Day morning.

Detectives are working on two other theories concerning the bat: that it was either used to break down the door of the bathroom where she hid, or that she used it to defend herself against Mr Pistorius, South Africa's City Press reported.

Pistorius’ defense is crumbling and his defense will have no leg to stand on when he goes to court.

However, the South African jury may not be sympathetic to the victim who they will view as a Discontinued Model.

And the good news for Pistorius is that the Houston Astros who just entered the American League are is desperate need of a Designated Hitter.

Steroids. The dude had a pharmacopia and it made him crazy. His prior female acquaintances need to step up and verify this if and when called upon by the prosecutors. Betcha he liked the steroids more than he liked the babes. And for a number of reasons the combination can lead to trouble.

Looks like the “I thought it was a burglar” defense has been batted down.

As to steroids: didn’t he just compete in the Olympic games and wouldn’t he have been tested for such (more easily detected than other forms of doping)? As to the rest: my first guess was that she dumped him and he wasn’t acceptive to the rejection.

I don't know whether the ParaOlympic competitors are screened as much as Olympic competitors nor do I know how long steroids are detectable. On the other hand, there are many studies showing that steroid use and abuse has a serious downside, including but not limited to violence and spousal abuse.

[Begin clip]In 1996, The Medical Journal of Australia, described the mental effects of anabolic steroids in three different stages. The first stage, which was considered mild, and effects were seen very early on, were: changes to euphoria and mood (i.e., boost in self-esteem and confidence), irritability, agitation and feelings of being on edge. The second stage of mental effects would usually be seen after long-term use of steroids or when the dosage had been increased, but the effects were as follows: lack of judgment and loss of inhibition; mood swings and grandiose ideas. The final stage is considered the most severe and the mental effects were as follows: antisocial behavior, violent outburst, self-injury, domestic violence or child abuse.[End clip]

You are probably right, as new stories today seem to indicate.

Side note: Pistorius (also) competed in the proper Olympics last year, making the semifinals of the 400m and being part of the 400 m relay.
