The Push to Normalize Polyamory Begins
national review ^ | 2/17/13 | Wesley J. Smith

You knew it was coming. Scientific American — which often pushes cultural agendas as much as scientific ideas — has an article informing us that polyamorous people have so much to teach the rest of us about life. From “The New Sexual Revolution: Polyamory May Be Good For You“ One thing that seems to unite the polyamorous community is a real enthusiasm for digging into emotions. Honesty, openness and communication are cornerstones for polyamorous relationships, Holmes has found. “They’re talking a lot, they’re negotiating a lot, they’re bringing their feelings to the table a lot,” he said.

One of my former professors at the University of Alaska Fairbanks used to talk about polyamory all the time. This was back in 2004.

It reminds of an apophrycal joke about Reagan and Gorbachev. Reagan asked Gorbachev, “What’s the difference between a Communist and a scientist?”

Gorbachev said he didn’t know.

Reagan answered, “A scientist would have tried it out on rats first.”

And so it is with polyamory, and whatever idea comes into the pretty little heads of the intellectual elites. When it’s a disaster, it’ll the fault of someone else who just didn’t under the brilliance of the idea.

This was always going to be the next stop on the gay marriage express. End of the line is the abolition of marriage altogether.

After all, it’s “unfair” to limit marriage to only 2 people!/sarc

Seriously speaking, I find it hypocritical of leftists and alleged “conservatives” who think marriage isn’t only 1 man and 1 woman to have any problems with polyamorous and incestuous relationship. Once mankind reject’s Christ’s clear teachings in Matthew 19:4-6, anything goes.

We’ve ‘normalized’ homosexuality, ‘co-habitation’ (formally fornication), divorce, cursing, hatred and misogyny (as rap ‘music’) and just about every other form of sexual perversion known to humans so why not polyamory? Hey, it’s 2013! Get with it, America!

I used to have a subscription to Scientific American back when I was a teenager in the 1970's. There's no way I would subsidize that left wing propaganda rag nowadays.

I suppose it could. Although, I think the left tries to limit it(so far, anyway) to “consenting adults”. Remember a few months ago when Hollywood director Nick Cassavates supported incestuous relationships using the same argument that the pro-”same sex marriage” crowd uses? He was just being consistent with the ultimate conclusions of where the liberal arguments ultimately lead to.

Marriage defined as one man and one woman is an artifact of Catholicism. Now that we are hastening to build a post Christian world, it will be discarded.

The new left's old saying, smash monogoamy. Men having sex with men was also to be used by the new left to destroy American society (see Peter Collier and David Horowoitz's "Destructive Generation").

Perhaps it is worth noting that sin has been normal for a very long time, but some of us still find grace to struggle against this normality and raise objection to when someone tries to assert that their favorite sin is, contrary to fact, a moral good.

“The New Sexual Revolution: Polyamory May Be Good For You“

Monogamous relationships provide an environment within which the very slow developing human child can survive to adulthood. Look to the hip hop culture to validate this by showing the necessary outcome a culture that abandons heterosexual monogamy. Polyamory appears from time to time in history only to be abandoned. You might recall that Margaret Mead described what she wanted to find and not what she actually saw.

I’m fairly certain that concept predates Catholicism.

While I probably can't find the reference, I have read that it is the only religion that has been monogamous for its whole history.

Yes, do it for the litters of children.

Legalizing polyamory would make it state-sanctioned adultery.

The Duggars didn’t need more than one wife to have 20 kids.

“The human condition affords so few pleasures however I can live without sex, but why if you are healthy and capable? “

Sex is wonderful, but it is much better when you actually are in love with someone. Honestly, everything is pretty empty if there isn’t something more than personal ‘pleasure’ involved. Hedonism is a pretty empty pursuit, ultimately. I think this is just a variation of ‘Man does not live by bread alone’.
