Large group grouses at sage grouse hearing ( UN 21 in Utah )
San Juan Record ^ | Feb 13, 2013

Posted on 02/17/2013 5:30:02 PM PST by george76

More than 200 people crowded into the Monticello High School auditorium on February 7 for a public hearing on the proposed designation of endangered species status for the small population of Gunnision Sage Grouse in San Juan County.

Representatives from the US Fish and Wildlife Service faced a mostly hostile but mostly respectful crowd. They were there to explain the rationale behind the proposed designation and how it may affect the area.

Two rules are proposed: one would designate the bird as an endangered species and the other would designation large swaths of land as critical habitat.

San Juan County Planner Nick Sandberg explained that challenging the designation as an endangered species may be difficult because it is part of the settlement of a lawsuit.

Sandberg added that challenging the designation of critical habitat may be the best approach for local landowners.

Sandberg said that the comment should not be emotional and should focus on specific and identifiable impacts on the land and on the threat to the livelihood of area residents.

Pleading that the responses should be non-emotional may be very difficult in what has become a very emotional issue.

The frustration that many local landowners feel over the ongoing public lands battles quickly turns into rage over this designation, because it impacts primarily private land.

Approximately 95 percent of the critical habitat proposed for San Juan County is on private land. At roughly 140,000 acres, this represents an estimated 35 percent of the total private land in the entire county.

The impact on private land is significant since more than 92 percent of the land in San Juan County is owned by the state or federal government, leaving just eight percent of the total land mass as private ground.

Really funny that this bird is found only on private land. Or is the reason that it is, that the government has taken such bad care of its land that the bird can't live there any more?

It's not enough the government has taken a majority of the land in the West -- its goal apparently is to have it all, so that it can all become as worthless as what it has now.

The US Fish and Wildlife initially did not plan a meeting in Monticello. It was added later at the request of San Juan County.

At a similar meeting in Dove Creek, CO in January, federal agents from Homeland Security, dressed in tactical gear and carrying weapons, were in attendance.

Just finished reading “Eco-Fascists: How Radical Conservationsts are Destroying Our National Heritage” by Elizabeth Nickson.

Excellent book on how the government, big corporations, trust fund babies and ENGO’s are implementing UN agenda 21 piecemeal through the Endagered Spieices Act and junk sciene such as biodiversity and conservation biology. In the book the author specifically writes about the sage grouse and other environmental causes that are turning land into deserts.

Highly recommend it. Especially for those in Utah trying to save their heritage and fight big gov. The author gives actual cases/events where citizen warriors fought back and won. She also gives their contact information.

Wonder why they need tactical gear and carrying weapons ?

Two reasons. One they have them, so they will use them. This should concern everyone that police department have been given, pushed to buy, or bought themselves, military gear since the World Trade Center was attacked. Almost every police response to anything will more and more become a massive jack booted overreaction.

Second, this designation may confiscate the wealth of land owners in the area, who may not be able to sell the land, use the land, sell mineral rights to the land, and render them destitute. That would be enough to cause some to go on a murder rampage.

What is that UN treaty that affectingly bans private ownership of land?

They first off need to secure their land by bringing their patents forward and discharging all the debts on it. It gets a lot harder for Corp.Gov to screw you if you don’t have acquiescence through adhesion contracts from public and private debt.

The Deseret Ranch has ten times the sage grouse density as the neighboring BLM land. The reason is simple. Sage grouse eat leafy vegetation. Those plants absolutely depend upon soil disturbance for germination that cows or elk provide. Everybody involved knows it, including FedGov.

San Juan County Planner Nick Sandberg explained that challenging the designation as an endangered species may be difficult because it is part of the settlement of a lawsuit.

Challenge it? They should JOIN it, holding Federal agencies responsible for the loss of appropriate habitat as the superior stewards they are. They should compete with the agencies and activists for delivery of larger sage grouse populations. If the ranchers are fools enough to get sucked into the Hegelian trap being set for them, they'll only have themselves to blame.

Most of the grouse in Idaho are lost to predation by coyotes. I've seen only two in 10 years in the Pocatello area.

Don't know much about the population in Kane County. We do have wild turkeys galore. They will probably come after us next. This painting was made at the elevation between Mount Carmel and Kanab. No Sage grouse found there.

Members of the Great Fuster Cluck of the Four Corners Area should have been told by NOW that the last of the desperadoes has been located.

If anyone wants to be on or off the Agenda 21 ping list, please notify me by Freepmail. It is a relatively low volume list in which we have been exploring the UN Agenda21 and related topics. We have collected our studies with threads, links, and discussions on the Agenda 21 thread which can be found here:

Post 128 of the Action Thread is a summary of the history of Agenda 21, “what they are doing”, “what to do about it” and a good bibliography for further reading.

Almost every police response to anything will more and more become a massive jack booted overreaction.

My eldest son has gone to the "dark side" and I have little to say to him these days. In addition to his expression of himself, he became and is the lead in their local UNION! Below is the pic he uses for public exposure (FaceBook, Link'n, et al)...

Last year, his wife committed suicide, and he is left with two small children. He had gone to church on a Sunday evening with the kids, came home and found her in the bath tub, gun in hand, shot herself in the gut.

I can't help but feel his choice of profession (and how he has changed) had something to do with it... but who knows! I just know he is not the same as the son I raised!!!
