Did not see this posted anywhere.

The original article was on 2/15/13, but the Slantinel reposted this morning.

Wondering if this will result in another backwards-aimed gun show?

Man. If I still lived down in the area, I’d be there with a card table set up and a pocketful of $$$$$ about a 1/2 a block away. Buy some good stuff send the garbage on down the street to the cops. No questions asked. LOL! Of course there is always the possibility you might pick up a gun used in some sort of nefarious activity so make ‘em sign a bill of sale with ID just for your safety.

Actually, I don’t have a problem with this if this causes some gang bangers to turn in ther guns, then fine. However, I highly doubt the effectiveness here. Gang bangers aren’t stupid either, they steal someone’s gun and then collect the gift card, or they’ll turn in some piece of junk while keeping their own stash.

Or turn in a friend’s weapon to which they have an iron clad alibi.

:: The agency will buy any gun – no questions asked – and give the person turning it in a $50 Target gift card. ::

Funny...isn’t this how the so-called “gun loophole” works?

No questions until they run the serial numbers and then do ballistics testing on it. Then they’ll be at your door asking plenty of questions.

Yup. There was a situation within the past year where the government was taking this stuff "no questions asked" and a woman came in with something "interesting" and they pulled in into a back room and started asking a whole lot of questions.

Pittance paid confiscation.

Hopefully some shrewd buyers will be outside giving better deals.

Hartford CT stopped this type of program after they figured out the gang bangers were turning in Murder Weapons and essentially “laundering” them through the police.

Since schools can suspend students for having a gun made of Popsicle sticks or even a photograph of a weapon, shouldn’t they qualify for the $50 gun buy back program?

Either it is a weapon or not a weapon. We can’t have the schools saying one thing and the police saying another.

The bangers and the regular criminals aren’t going to turn their good weapons in. They may turn in some crap weapons that they have stolen, so they can purchase some drugs with the money.

Reference Obadiah's post:

I've heard that in numerous places; turning in a POS for the cash or gibsmedats.

Give a Cabelas’ card so they can go and put it down towards a better one.

This is the same city that is trying to lynch George Zimmerman over the self defense capping of Trayvon Martin

Crime has exploded in Sanford since the self defense capping. Criminals know they can get away with a lot in Sanford since the Zimmerman lynch job

Today? I finally get one near me and I can’t make it on short notice. And they are only giving $50!

Sanford must have spent a lot of cash dumping their white chief and hiring a black one from “near Chicago” a week or so ago. You just knew that after the Trayvon Martin case they were going to limit their choice of colors for consideration.

Fifty dollars at Target - does anyone else see the irony?

I await the day they start handing out EBT cards with gun buybacks.
