LAS VEGAS -- A man killed in a shooting and fiery crash on the Las Vegas Strip early Thursday morning was a rapper who previously lived in Oakland, a family member said.
Ken Cherry, 27, who rapped under the name Kenny Clutch, was shot by someone in a black Range Rover about 4:20 a.m. as he drove on Las Vegas Boulevard. After he was shot, Cherry rapidly accelerated his gray Maserati down Las Vegas Boulevard and through a red light before striking a cab at the intersection of Flamingo Road.
The cab burst into flames, and the cabdriver and a passenger were both killed. Six others were injured, police said.
The crumpled gray Maserati, which had no license plate, came to rest several feet away from the incinerated taxi. Cherry was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

I’m thinking that Kristin “Maserati” Bender has a fascination with foreign sports cars, because, although the Maserati seems completely incidental to the story, the Maserati gets mentioned pretty obsessively.
he’s the lucky one, the rest of us have to still live here
That rap culture is so ....
ah, never mind
good point, she probably would have “dated” him because of his car
Aspiring rappers probably have a rough time getting life insurance.
Standard, boilerplate comment from an auntie...
“I can tell you this ... the world has lost a good man,” Sims said. “I’m not saying he didn’t have his faults, but he was very kind, especially to older people...”
FINALLY some news comes out about this.
The media were certainly cagey all day yesterday, the ONLY thing we kept hearing was it “may have started as an argument in The Aria.”
I figured it was akin to the Tupac car to car shooting(s) that happened a number of years ago.
So sorry for the taxi driver and his passenger who were killed in this stupid shooting.
Vegas has become a dangerous place, even in the so-called “nicer” areas of the strip.
Ban all Rappers now. Too many people killed by rapping. Ban Maserattis too. Ban Las Vegas.
That headline is really something. It looks like the Maserati was either the victim or the shooter. (Do Maseratis back-fire, or do they fire back?)
Yes, they are usually such easy going, law abiding individuals not prone to violence or harsh words.
They should be called EXPIRING RAPPERS!
..hip. All the “cool” people seem to like the idea of pushing it down our collective throats. I guess Rock and Roll was getting to be too much like real music, so we needed a downgrade.
Not the first crap rap hip hopper to get capped in Vegas.
I remember when musicians just ODed....now all the music deaths are violent. We should ban crap hop music....it kills
How can an “aspiring rapper” afford a Maseratti? I need to change professions.
Awwwwwwww and now we have to miss the artistic renderings of another minldess idiot and his ‘posse’ screaming about “fuggin’ they b*tches”
I just knew there was a rapper or basketball star involved in this story somewhere.
Rappers are weapons of war and no law abiding person has a need for them.
Maserattis on the other hand should be added to medicare as a necessary medical aid for disabled veterans like myself.
No license plates on the Maserati or the Range Rover..maybe its time to step up the enforcement of this basic aspect of traffic law.
I wonder how far down the public highway I would get with “no license tags” on my Hyundai??? I guess the LVPD or NHP not be profiling these days.
Must be an Onion story!! Everyone knows the AMISH don’t gamble so what would they be doing in Vegas???????????
Many “aspiring wrappers” are also “practicing urban pharmaceutical distributors” and “managing urban armed groups” so they can own Maseratis
If you read the title, it looks like the Maserati did the shooting.
Might have been Vinnie "Two-Tone" Maserati, from Brooklyn.
So, somebody “popped” the Clutch! :)
Who cares...live like a thug die like a thug.

It's a crying shame. When I worked, I used to visit Vegas 2-3 times a year. I love the city, not just the gambling and the flashy shows, but just the structure, the people, the climate, the favorable tax laws. Had aspirations of retiring there someday. Now I'm glad I didn't make the move. The city is turning into Chicago.
***No license plates on the Maserati or the Range Rover***
Snort-can’t be black rappers. Must be white militia anti-government conservatives in blackface as ONLY anti government white neo-nazis hate to buy license plates.
sarc/off
Yo! Looks like he did the Wango Tango as his face became part of the Maserati. Ted Nugent strikes again!
How can an aspiring rapper afford a Maseratti? I need to change professions.
LOL. Well played, sir. Well played.
I said yesterday this would most likely be a drug deal gone bad - I forgot the “rapper” connection.....What a shame innocent people were injured and/or killed but I could not care less about the thug who died. Find the other perps and get them to prison where they belong.
Well the good news is that now he’s got Street Cred.
There's our new meme...LAS VEGAS...AMERICA'S NEXT CHICAGO...
Wonder when the Dorner Fan Club will make a statement about this being another example of racism in America?
Oh, how sad that there was so much property damage.
The real scandal is the propane-powered “green” taxi that exploded in flames, killing the cabbie & passenger. Obama’s fault.
“He was also a well known pimp.”
Having morals has apparently significantly reduced my income.
Was in LV attending a mining show there when dat MoFo tupac (or one of em) got ventilated.
Vegas was turning into a jungle then, hate to guess now.
When folks get free money from the gubmit, pissin it away at a casino is not big deal.
“Who knew that an aspiring rap star could be involved in such events?”
Who knew that an aspiring rap “star” could afford a Maserati?
Having witnessed a Maserati Trofeo race, I can say that they backfire. Especially on decel.
Huge advance from the record label? Contraband pharmaceuticals?
Should have chosen country music.
Probably killed by someone who hated his brand of rap
didn’t take long to go from aspiring to expiring.
“No license plates on the Maserati or the Range Rover..maybe its time to step up the enforcement of this basic aspect of traffic law.”
Test Drives?
OH, so true. I live in the LA area and used to visit Vegas at least every other month — loved the shopping, the cheap buffets, walking on the strip, going to shows, gambling a bit at the slots.
It is a very different place now. I have a 21 year old daughter who has NO sense of danger or caution, she and her 21 year old friend wanted to run all over the strip in and out of the casinos, visit everywhere. I was really worried, it’s not the same town as when I was 21 and running up and down the strip was perfectly safe. Luckily, she and her friend got caught up on the penny slots and the lounge act in the hotel and didn’t leave the area.
There is a very very rough element in Las Vegas now, even in the nicest areas. As a kid my family and I used to stay at Circus Circus, now, I don’t even set foot in that place.
Looks like Vegas is a bad place for Rappers. I will never go there again! Too Bloody—want to gamble? Go to an Indian Casino close top home.
