Rand Paul returns more money to Treasury

(CNN) - Sen. Rand Paul cut another six-figure check to the United States Treasury Wednesday, taking the money he said he didn't need from his office's budget to make a tiny dent in the nation's massive federal debt. "We watch every purchase," Paul, a Republican from Kentucky, said at an event next to an oversized check for $600,000. "We watch what computers we buy, what paper we buy, the ink cartridges. We treat the money like it's our money, or your money, and we look at every expenditure."

The $600,000 reflects more than 20% of Paul's annual office budget, according to a press release. Another GOP lawmaker, Rep. Mick Mulvaney of South Carolina, said he would return $160,000 to the federal government, or 12% of his office budget.

Or the House or the hundreds of bureaucracies that exist across the country.

It’s probably not a far cry from saying that a good half of the deficit could be taken care of, if only all federal governments were audited by an independent firm, with the sole mission of rooting out waste.

My congressman is still sleeping in his office since being elected in 2010.

He says that if congress was working correctly there would be no need for senators and representatives to rent expensive apartments in DC. He also introduced a bill in 2011 that would require them to spend at least 21 days of every month in their home districts.

What I am picking up on is that Rand Paul, and a few others, are slowly emerging with more exposure in the Media, as the true voices of the emerging majority within the nominal Republican Party , their true and only voices. At this point it’s an uphill climb, but over the course of the next year or two, it’s definitely in the cards that the climb will level off and get much easier owing to the stubborn realities of how massive and destructive the failures of the Obama Administration are and will continue to be.

their true and only voices

Actually there are plenty that you aren't hearing but that doesn't mean they aren't doing the right thing. They're still a minority but their numbers are growing and that's why Kapo Karl is trying to shut them out.

every congressman, every senator ought to cut 15% of their state/district budget - they could find it without the “sky is falling - Chicken Little Obama talking points”!

And plane fare reimbursements. But at least he saved Taxpayers $400/hooker by paying them only $100 instead of the promised $500/hooker. LOL. Stand his ass against a stone wall...

I’m waiting for Nancy Pelosi to explain that by not spending money Rand is disrespecting the “work” that Congress does.

Rand Paul 2016.

“...spent it all on underage foreign hookers”.
————actually, it’s not a stretch at all that in the twisted minds of Dems like Menendez, he’s actually making his own financial contribution to the economy of the Dominican Republic through his payments to teenage prostitutes.
It can be rationalized as his own, highly personal form of
“foreign aid”.
