Obama Administration Moves Forward on Climate Change Without Congress -Forthcoming regulation

President Barack Obama is tired of waiting for Congress to move on legislation to reduce carbon emissions, and his administration is poised to move forward on actions to do just that—including a move that will effectively eliminate the possibility of any new coal plant opening in the United States, experts say.

"We can choose to believe that Superstorm Sandy, and the most severe drought in decades, and the worst wildfires some states have ever seen were all just a freak coincidence," Obama said during his State of the Union address. "Or we can choose to believe in the overwhelming judgment of science—and act before it's too late."

[ENJOY: Political Cartoons About Global Warming]

Climate change has been a controversial public policy issue in recent years, as many conservative Republicans have denied a relationship between carbon emissions and incremental increases in temperatures, which many scientists link to increasingly severe weather events.

“We can choose to believe that evil clowns, the mutant menace, and the worst goblin infestations some states have ever seen were all just a freak coincidence, or we can believe the absolute scientific consensus that Jews are witches!”, said Obama.

We’ll see how they feel when they see their electric bill in a couple of years.

Why would they care about their electric bills (or any other expense)? The tax payers pay for all their stuff. It's no sweat off their backs.

Since he has been elected twice apparently the American people actually want this.

I recently saw the movie "Lincoln" and found it disturbing.

First: Ending slavery was good. The movie is about the Senate approval of the 13th Amendment, and I won't argue that slavery was a good thing.

In the movie, Lincoln admits that he is probably using illegal powers. He uses bribery, and tries to maintain plausible deniability on this tactic. He declares himself to be "President of the United States -- clothed in immense power!" and he insists on getting his way.

He also makes the point that he passed the Emancipation Proclamation (which affected only the Confederacy) and gave the voters a year and a half to think about it. And then they re-elected him. Therefore -- he can do anything he wants. He won.

I saw echoes of Obama all over this movie. And I am absolutely sure that Obama saw echoes of Obama all over this movie.

Obama is trying to do what Lincoln did. Obama is governing as a war-time president, ruling a divided country going through a Civil War. Obama seeks to bend us all to his will -- he is "President of the United States -- clothed in immense power!" and he insists on getting his way.

The opposition party, (Republicans), is filled with career politicians who want nothing more than to remain employed.

Which is precisely why we need to make it nearly impossible to be a "career politician". Start with a combination of term limits and forbidding them to exempt themselves from any law they pass; add strictly enforced penalties for any degree of political corruption.

Obama is trying to do what Lincoln did.

Lincoln freed the slaves, believing no man should be used as another mans slave. Oboma is creating them, believeing all men should should be used as government (his) slaves. Other than being high on his own power, the two are complete opposites.

All good in theory, but the system has been perverted. Who do we need to pass these laws? Career politicians. How does one get to be elected to high office? By gaining support of career politicians and becoming one of them.

The gains will come incrementally, and slowly. We don’t have the time. Liberalism will cause a collapse long before the system can be repaired.

We need refineries. Here are the latest updates posted.

We can produce much oil, but if we cannot refine it, it’s not much benefit.

IMHO, Pols like Maxine Waters would like to ‘socialize’ the oil industry for the revenue stream. They see many other nations with such nationalized corporations and are jealous. If they can create enough pain at the pump , thus a public outcry for relief, the Dems have a plan in place (just like many facists).
The Chicago Climate Futures Exchange where the carbon credits were to be traded is closed. But the ideas and methods to capture $5T in value from thin air still lingers.

Lincoln broke what the Founders gave to us: a federation of free states, each deciding on their own laws, within the limits set out by the Constitution.

Lincoln ended that and started us all on the road to Federal tyranny. Obama is trying to complete the journey that Lincoln began.

Certainly, I will not defend slavery. But I will not defend Lincoln either.
I think Lincoln meant well, but he did a bad thing. Obama does not mean well.

>>We’ll see how they feel when they see their electric bill in a couple of years.<<

Not very likely, as the majority of his supporters are the low-information, low-income, EBT/Welfare/Obamaphone type, they get all sorts of gimme’s when it comes to paying the electric bill.

Many of the Section-8 housing areas include electric in the controlled rent. I have a family member in such a place - doesn’t matter how much electricity the deadbeats use, they never “pay” a dime more than the standard all-inclusive amount. All courtesy of the US Taxpayer.

So to the losers, it doesn’t matter a bit, since there’s no consequenses in life for them. But for us, the working fools having to shell out 150% more every month for electricity...a spear in the side from both directions.

Yes, sadly your Republican opposition is quite weak. They ought to be saying that they will undo anything he has by Presidential fiat. That would be the minimum I would expect from a principled politician. However I think they might be rubbing their hands together in glee thinking of how they can use the same power to get things done themselves. Obama and the Demonrats may be setting a precedent that they regret. The ends do not justify the means, however, when they circumvent the appropriate political process.

When “The Cambodian Kid” the US Secretary of State first public appearance was about “globull warming” It should become clear, no pipeline, and that there is a master use of energy plan involving massive social engineering . Surpringly Romney brought it up during the campaign but it was quickly buried. Morris’s wife wrote a book about it. I think even Newt brought it up.

Nobody wants to touch it because it sounds too fantastic. The gist of which is Obama believes to make the US use less energy dependent. There should be movement back into the cities hence the reliance on public transport raise the cost of fuel as to make it prohibitive. The whole concept is based on pseudo science and false assumptions using global warming as the excuse.

What blows my mind is that on the GOPES end this is pretty well known but they’re saying or doing nothing.

I've not been a fan of Lincoln, after figuring out that the over-arching Federal government began with him. He conceived the idea that the "Union" was more important than States' Rights, and decided that the Confederacy could not be allowed to continue. The truth is, the Confederacy would have eventually collapsed anyway, and would have probably petitioned to rejoin the Union, and it could all have happened without the bloodshed, and devastation that occurred. Slavery was already dying in the South, and it would have eventually ceased. It was not a sustainable economic model.

Now, let me be clear, I abhor slavery. None of my ancestors held slaves. My mother's family came from Amish and Mennonite roots. My father's family didn't even arrive in the US until after the War of Northern Aggression, coming from Bavaria. Slavery is a moral evil. And our country paid a dear price for failing to deal with it at the time of the Revolution. But Lincoln while meaning well, as you say, did not solve the problem in the right way. And now we are paying the price for that....

"...which many scientists link..."

The reporter has dropped one notch down from “consensus”.

Perhaps that's an improvement?

Those we elect to congress and the senate are supposed to and do have the power to stop this arrogant fool but they are scared to death of him

The Dem Senate is egging him on because the people were responsible for voting that way. And what do you expect the House to do in the face of EO's?

won’t it be easier to undo these things that he has done by going around congress

But we have to wait 4 years (at least) until we get a GOP President to do so.

Yes but the problem we have is called Human Nature, right now jealousy, envy and greed is selling very well.
When that runs its course and its inevitable consequences are realized, then maybe the worm will turn.
