STERLING, Va. (CBSDC) — If you enjoy packing heat while sipping a hot cup of coffee, Friday is your day.

Firearms owners and gun rights advocates are heading to local coffee shops to celebrate “Gun Owners Support Starbucks Day.” It’s their way of saying ‘thank you’ to the Seattle-based coffee franchise for — as they see it — not infringing on their Second Amendment rights.

Good grief! As I recall, it was only a short few years ago that Starbucks didn’t allow guns in their stores.

Why the change of heart, I wonder?

Maybe because they realized that some Starbucks customers or employees have either been threatened or have become crime victims?

Starbuck’s simply agree to comply with the local laws, whatever they may be.

Memory says not long ago it was Starbucks who told the U.S troops that they didn’t support them. Seems the troops liked Starbucks coffe and asked it perhaps Starbucks might send a variety of coffees to them.

I would not set foot in a Starbucks for any reason other than perhaps pulling someone out of a burning building. Even stupid people deserve a chance (sarc)

This is not true. Starbucks donates thousands of pounds of coffee to the troops every year. Additionally, at my local Starbucks, every Christmas, they put up big boxes where people can buy a pound and write a message on the bag, that is delivered to troops in Iraq and/or Afghanistan.

As for carrying in Starbucks, official company policy is to simply comply with local laws. If there are no laws prohibiting carry, you can carry in the store. I do every day.
