WESTLAND, Mich., Feb. 21 (UPI) -- The owners of a Michigan buffet restaurant are being sued in federal court for allegedly kicking out a family whose children suffer from a rare skin disorder.
A lawsuit filed Wednesday against a Westland Golden Corral alleges the restaurant's owners, Kirit and Shakuntla Patel, violated the Americans with Disabilities Act by refusing to serve the family, The Detroit News reported.
The lawsuit alleges that restaurant manager David Robinson approached the family and asked Duford "What is wrong with your baby?" Duford said nothing was wrong and informed the manager about the skin disease.
"She has scabs all over, so obviously there is something wrong with her," Robinson allegedly said, adding that the restaurant had "a right to ask what's wrong if it concerns our customers and is contagious."

“Why not take an Emotional Support Pony?”
Takes up too much room in the front seat.
What a horrifying thing to go through. BUT, they’re tying to sale food. Those poor children, God bless them, would make me think about choosing another restaurant.
“Alabama”
Roll tide indeed. JellyRoll.
There was one woman there who was so fat she used 3 chairs - one for her crack area, and 1 for each bun. (Or as much of each bun as would fit.)
I like Corn Flakes. Whutz wrong with that?
I feel sorry for the kids. That is a very nasty condition to have.
The ADA is a classic solution infinitely worse than the original problem. I supported it originally (in the 70s, without giving it much thought. Bureaucrats apparently did the same.)
Now I hate it with a passion; I'm older and realized that empowering the neurotic and the insane is a bad path to take. The ongoing cost to the normal population is enormous and permanent, both in dollars and in social despotism.
My "Aha!" moment was when a city planned a fleet of wheelchair-equiped vans to be on call to service any handicapped person and take them wherever they wished to go for free rather than equip hundreds of normal buses with wheelchair equipment.
The mentally crippled sued to prevent that; they insisted on the "right" to use normal buses.
Repeal the ADA!
Sometimes you go into a restroom with a talle and a short one. Did you ever notice the floor is always wet at the shorter one?
I suppose the short one is for guys in a wheel chair, but if a guy in a wheelchair can pee in that he is definitely heavy hung.
It’s a stupid law.
People if you want a good home cooked southern meal go to golden Corral great veggies..and they also serve lean meat..Have great sweets (i can't eat those)...
Epidermolysis bullosa (ep-ih-dur-MOL-uh-sis buhl-LO-sah) is a group of skin conditions whose hallmark is blistering in response to minor injury, heat, or friction from rubbing, scratching or adhesive tape..
What the restaurant manager saw was blistering and infection as a result of injury, etc. The disease makes the person more vulnerable but he was reacting to the actual infections. It wasn't the disability but the injury. He had every right to refuse service.
Where I am they modified the theater by installing a wheel chair lift. This is so that the wheelchair bound workers can recieve awards, etc on stage. I have yet to see it being used for that in over three years.
It also blocks the view of the first 20 rows of seats.
They also modified another building that is a walk-up by installing a chair lift that uses the stairwell. Once in operation no one can use the stairwell. Not really safe in terms of evacuations.
I always thought that ADA was about “reasonable” accomodations not massive alterations like these.
LOL, I don't eat at buffets partially because of this as well (and the food usually sucks). Buffet cattle and Sams/Costco grazers are two pet peeves.
I know a guy that called one of those blind date services years ago.
Well when he went to pick the woman up, he went to the door and rang the bell.
She came out and he swears she was all of 400 lbs LOL.
Well what could he do?
He escorted her to the car and opened the door.
She got in and the car listed to starboard LOL
He got in and asked where she would like to eat.
She replied, “Golden Coral” LOL!!!
I forgot to mention that the floor is almost always sticky. Maybe some sleazebag lawyer could sue under the ADA saying it is unsanitary for disabled persons.
That is funny. He could have turned and ran, but he did the polite thing. Good for him.

I only wished I could have seen it myself LOL!
