Dot Commie: China's Military Behind U.S. Cyberattacks

Cyberwar: A cybersecurity firm reports a secretive Chinese military unit is behind many recent "hack attacks" into U.S. computers, stealing trade and military secrets and developing a potentially crippling new weapon.

In a 2009 editorial we noted that units of China's armed forces, whom we dubbed its "Cybertooth Tigers" were developing capabilities to penetrate and potentially disrupt U.S. computer systems as part of the People's Liberation Army's focus on what is known as "asymmetrical" warfare, specifically cyber-warfare.

At least as far back as the 2008 edition of the Pentagon's annual report to Congress entitled "Military Power of the People's Republic of China," it was noted that China's armed forces and other entities "continue to develop and field disruptive military technologies, including those for ... cyberwarfare .. . ."

In future conflicts, the ability to shut down an opponent's command and control systems or its power grids could be as decisive as any traditional engagement on the battlefield. Short of that, the ability to steal another country's business and state secrets is a valuable economic and military asset as Beijing seeks to make the 21st century a Chinese one.

In a 74-page study released Tuesday, the Alexandria, Va.-based cybersecurity firm Mandiant places responsibility for the overwhelming number of cyberattacks on U.S. companies and government agencies at the feet of the 2nd Bureau of the People's Liberation Army General Staff's 3rd Department, most commonly known as Unit 61398, whose work is a Chinese state secret and appears to receive "direct government support."

Unit 61398 "has systematically stolen hundreds of terabytes of data from at least 141 organizations," in diverse industries, said the report.

And we still keep funding the Communist Chinese Army via Free Trade

Slap high tariffs on the Communist Chinese, and watch them stop this stuff real quick

Unfortunately...we have way too many people who want to keep funding the Communist Chinese and their army via Free Trade. Thank God these Commie suckups were not around during the USSR days...or I would writing this in Cyrilic

Bill Clinton and his Commece Secretary Ron Brown were instrumental in transferring classified data and technology to Red China, in exhange for laundered campaign contributions. Democrats are traitors. Pure and simple.

Fact: NASA Ames leaked (provided) to the Chinese government cruise missile guidance technology and radar tech of the F-35 (both technologies are top secret) and this Justice Department (Holder) is refusing to allow prosecution of the responsible individuals. That, in and of itself, says much about what we can expect this administration to do about the Chinese military hacking into our government's, et al top secret files.

Who knows how much more military tech this administration will provide to China and Russia over the next four years or how those countries will use that technology once the obozo is out of office. I surmise the obozo is a traitor of the highest order and plans to leave this country in shambles and ripe for the taking.

"Bill Clinton and his Commerce Secretary Ron Brown were instrumental in transferring classified data and technology to Red China, in exchange for laundered campaign contributions."

Right you are 06, and it's worth reminding people. Clinton lifted export restrictions on sensitive technology (Loral Corp. and Hughes Aerospace) to China. The PLA were then contributing money to the SOB.

China’s population is four times America’s.

Five times, if you include overseas Chinese.

Why are we helping China? What do we get in return? Immigration? (nope - unless you are Chinese)

This is nuts. Bring back US industry now.

No not at all.

I am merely being realistic. China is the one country with the size and determination to be a true, credible and lasting threat to America.

I am not sure what our situation vis-a-vis China is now. I believe we are reaching a sort of parity. But China has now more industry, and more growth than we do.

At four (or five) times our size. This is a massive advantage, and one which China knows very well.

I think we can be friends with China, if we push back.

However we do not push back. We simply give away everything.

Everything.

The situation has now changed. China is becoming a problem, if we do not address it.

We need to change the way we do business with China.

Now.
