Sens. Rand Paul, R-Ky., and Marco Rubio, R-FL., topped the list of approximately 40 House and Senate Republicans who received a perfect conservative voting score from the American Conservative Union, sponsor of next month’s Conservative Political Action Conference.

The ACU released its annual rankings Thursday.

In the Senate, Rubio and Paul, who are both seen as possible 2016 presidential contenders, were awarded the Defenders of Liberty designation, receiving a “perfect 100 percent” score on their voting records

...

Thirty-four House members were deemed Defenders of Liberty, among them Reps. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn.; Joe Wilson, R-S.C.; and Tom Price, R-Ga.

The ACU rates lawmakers on a variety of votes related to fiscal, foreign, and social policies, among other issues.

Both Paul and Rubio are on my "Nice" list...so far.

However when you read the article those also having perfect voting records include Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.; Pat Toomey, R-Pa. Both of them are on my "Naughty" if not "Poopy" list.

Rubio has voted with the Dems on a few bills....there is no way that he has a perfect conservative record. If anyone is willing to do the research, you will find Rubio has been voting w the Dems and Liberal RINOs on legislation...if I have time later I could probably find FR-posted articles on this

I question whether the ACU is really “conservative”. Is Karl Rove running it?

And both RaPaul and Rubio have directly/indirectly supported Illegal Alien Amnesty

Pauls’ is much stronger on the illegal issue. Rubio would put illegals on a path to legal status as soon as his legislation passes. Paul would put illegals on a path to legal status once an independent audit certified (with Congressional review/vote) the border secure. Not a small difference in plans. It is my understanding neither plan puts illegals on a path to citizenship.

Paul has made comments like “no one wants to vote for someone who is going to deport all the Illegal Aliens”. He has also talked about “pathways to citizenship”. These are all codewords for “Amnesty”.

Simply put, if you refuse to commit to deporting illegal aliens...you support Amnesty. Not punishing, and rewarding, someone for breaking the law is Amnesty

Don’t believe the liberal deception played out here on Freerepublic and in the media in general. You will know them by their trash talking GOP and other conservatives, instigating divisiveness etc. That is Marxist MO. They infiltrate to cause problems and distort messages, taking any opportunity to smear. Rubio is as conservative and clean as they come. That said, I will support any Christian antiabortion candidate that God allows.

Rubio is more concerned with selling out for the illegal vote than he is about US citizens. He is fraud.

If Americans think “Amnesty” is what is destroying this country, then we deserve to be destroyed. Reagan supported amnesty, so did Bush, Americans supported them. Not all of us came on the Mayflower, and of course making this our nations problem is not something that most Americans agree with. It is a stupid political ruse, that fools fall for, and/or are used to make conservatives appear hate filled and intolerant. Shut up

Do you think the 20+ million new voters are more likely to vote for liberals or conservatives? And will their votes strengthen or weaken abortion rights? And do you think that most are here to become proud Americans or to exploit the hell out of this country? I’d never use the term ‘shut up’, but if I did, I’d use it on you.

Both voted to approve the treasonous John FTA Kerry (who lied to congress in a time of war and met with the enemy to "negotiate" the war) as Secretary of State (97-3). Oh so conservative of them.

The man's so-called "peace" group plotted to assassinate members of Congress until support for the war was withdrawn.

My parents were immigrants and my only sibling brother and I both were in WWII service. I served overseas and my brother was killed in the battle for Okinawa. Both of us experienced the verbal non-hateful barbs of playmates. However, the one belief we were taught and held was that when a person or family came to the USA it was to make the USA as good if not a better place to live and die for if necessary. In all my years of school and work I learned that what my parents believed and taught us was a truth in that the USA was great because we had opportunity and the Nation could use our labor to prosper. I question how many of the immigrants today, legal and illegal, come to the USA to make It a greater Nation. I know there are still those that do come for the opportunity my parents longed for. However, I also believe there is a vast amount of immigrant persons who are here to take and not give and these persons are being enabled by politicians for political purposes; purposes not in accord with those of my parents. So I am not as sanguine about immigrants as you are.

Amazing in this conversation overlooked is that VOTING DIED. on Nov 6th 2012..

It died.. Kaput.. became meaningless.. bait and switch.. a fiasco.. a mirage.. a boondoggle.. a shell game..
Voter fraud has become NORMAL.. instituted.. fixed.. working class.. and very sophisticated..
VOTING for candidates is a delusion.. allusion even an ILLUSION.. it is out of the closet..
VOTING is a corrupted activity..

Obama won in ALL States with NO voter I.D. and lost in ALL States with valid voter I.D..
And some States with valid voter I.D. has a corrupt system..

The republican party running the inventor of Romney care against the inventor of Obama care should be a (( HINT )..
A Hint; That even republican primary’s are CORRUPT..

The republican party seems to be populated by COWARDS to face reality..
ONLY ONE thing can result from this situation.... (( REVOLT ))..

(BUT.... that would some courageous players.. ).. there is NONE or very very few..

"I question how many of the immigrants today, legal and illegal, come to the USA to make It a greater Nation."

I understand, my backround is similar. I also understand that those are not judgements for me to make. That is God's problem and neither one of us have the where with all, to make those judgements. it is God's will that matters, not mine. I am responsible for myself, and that mean being the best person I can be in God's estimation.

I am Catholic and believe what God tells me.

"You shall treat the alien who resides with you no differently than the natives born among you; have the same love for him as for yourself; for you too were once aliens in the land of Egypt" (Lv 19:33-34).

"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me" (Mt 25:35).

"There is neither Jew nor Greek . . . for you are all one in Christ Jesus" (Gal 3:28). In Christ, the human race is one before God, equal in dignity and rights.

It is apparent that you and I have very different views as to where the lines are drawn between social and spiritual responsibilities. I was raised as a Lutheran, have been active in the Church and remain a Lutheran in faith. I believe that my religion or teachings do not require me to assume without my consent burdens that others care to assume for themselves. I believe that from the earliest settlers of this Nation the goal was freedom apart from others concern when one did not wish to become part of such. I also believe that giving is partitioned between ‘giving unto God the things that are of God and unto man the things that are of man’. I recognize the need for societal cohesiveness to meet/deal with common needs. There is no common need to take from one person and give to another person because one or more persons believe the other person has something more that must be shared. Finally, I believe the Bible speaks to/of those who are the cause of their own situations.

“You shall treat the alien who resides with you no differently than the natives born among you
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Do you just GIVE those that you love things for free or do you make them earn it? That’s love!
And if you have no idea how many, or at least a rough percentage,of illegal aliens are here to make this country a better place vs. simply exploit it, then you are either a liar or have not interacted with society in years.

The plans that various people are presenting aren’t just a “give aways”.

I honestly don’t blame people for resenting “illegal” immigrants. But for those who’s crimes have been to sneak in to be able to work and provide for their families I can’t blame them either. I thank God that isn’t me in that situation.

In my experience, personal emotions need to be set aside, and just keep in mind God’s will. People can rationalize anything, including the lack of compassion and brotherly love.

In God’s eyes we are all the same. Any time we go against what God tells us, it will hurt us.

What is the point of arguing about amnesty if we have a president who is literally destroying us from within? How can anyone think our nations problems come from exploitation by immigrants, when we have millions of American born and bred liberals pushing us into Marxism?

Amnesty is a distraction, a ruse, because obviously they know how to push people’s buttons. Don’t let them manipulate you like that.

I live in Miami. More immigrants have been kicked out by Obama than anyone before him. That should make him your man. Since Obama and company can pretend to be nice human beings, few people realize what he is doing. They blame it on the rabid Republicans and get away with it.

I also see a lot of professionals deciding to go back to their countries. South America is in a better economic situation than the US. The migrant workers don’t have work either. That should make you very happy.

Aside from religion if you think that we will ever have a Republican candidate again without the support of the immigrants, regardless of how fair it is or not,you truly are blind. It’s an unfortunate reality, but the Republican party has never been as weak as it is right now. Because of our past voting records and the way the liberal media has been able to spin the Republican party’s actions we have lost almost all of our positions in the 2012 elections. It’s easy for people like you and I to sit on our butts in front of a computer screen and argue about topics such as “what to do with the illegals?”, however, in reality any sort of viewpoint that refuses to vote for a candidate simply based on immigration is unfair because our conservative party members in congress are not only a minority, but a rarity. Senators such as Paul and Rubio are doing what they mustto survive in Washington-if you don’t support them that’s fine and obviously you are entitled to your own opinion, however I think it is extremely important that you take into consideration the weakness of the Republican party in congress right now - you should see this new immigration reform as a party saving technique. I agree with you,I dislike the fact that the liberals want to have all of these illegal immigrants become citizens. But you know why Obama wants that? Because he wants 11 million more votes for the future democrat candidates that the illegals will vote for if they see that only the democrats tried to get them to become citizens. It sucks. I get that. But it’s politics. And it’s better that senators such as Rubio and Rand propose legislation that prevents illegals from attaining things like welfare and other American benefits than to make them all citizens as Obama wants.
