Citing one key discrepancy in the film, the former United States president made this point:
"...90 percent of the contributions to the ideas and the consummation of the plan was Canadian," notes the 88-year-old. "The movie gives almost full credit to the American CIA. And with that exception, the movie's very good."

Why does anyone care what this old fool (2nd worst president after the current obozo) has to say about anything? Really? JC help us, my God.
Well these events took place under his watch.
IMHO, Argo is still a very good movie; Jimmy Carter’s agreement notwithstanding.
I loved it.
excellent film... had me on the edge of my seat the entire time... Ben Afflick deserved to be nominated for best director—but was not... it really took me back to when i was in the 9th grade...
I would assume that there were no mention of the disasterous Carter administration sideshow blunders. Of coarse he liked it he sees his legacy within the movie. Isn’t fiction grand
Exactly what I was thinking as soon as I saw the headline. I just wish he would go away. Why has he come out of the woodwork anyway?
I haven't seen the movie yet. How is Carter portrayed in the movie? (if he's mentioned at all.)
Carter has never been right about anything, so no sense in going to that film.
Why would a U.S. President allow the Canadians to architect a multi-service rescue plan?
This was the worst case dictating playground sharing, ever imposed on our military.
Rather than ensuring the men and equipment used, were best suited for the mission, they demanded that each service play an equal role.
That’s how we ended up with choppers not suited for the desert conditions, among other deficiencies.
Heard it is a good film.
But the question I have is, without the “best director” award for Ben Afflick, can “Argo” win the best movie title?
The “best movie” CANNOT win without the “best director” award.
He’s not really in it except a speech excerpt here and there from archival footage and characters mentioning ‘the President’.
It’s happened many times.
The fact that Carter appears in the movie, even for one second, is enough to make me never see it in theaters or rent it on blu-ray, dvd, whatever.
These events took place because of his watch.
Apparently 3 films have won Best Picture without even a Best Director nomination. Wings, Grand Hotel and Driving Miss Daisy. Had to look that up.
Not to mention the movie must've gone easy on him and not accurately portrayed him as the bumbling fool he actually is. He never makes an appearance or says anything in public unless it gives him to opportunity to chip away at the American image. Here it's in favor of the Canadians. He would've loved it even more if he could've plausibly given credit to N. Korea. Still, I do want to see this movie.
in his defense, he could easily have taken credit for himself?
clinton or obama sure would have
Saw it last night “on demand.” Was amused that at the end there was type on the screen that explained about the hostages being released on Jan. 20, 1981. But of course no mention that it was at the exact moment Reagan was inaugurated. Then Carter does a voiceover explaining how getting the hostages released “restored integrity” to our nation or some such rot, and reminding us that the whole Argo operation took place on his watch.
Then the credits rolled and I saw the movie was produced by Ben Affleck and George Clooney. So of course they had to give Jimmah a speaking part!
