Did they kill him in the same manner? If not, justice was not served. But, he’s dead and that’s A Good Thing. :)

A Woman burner should have to ride the lightning in Texas.
Lethal injection somehow seems inadequate for the crime.

That is definitely NOT what to do, if you want a hotter girlfriend.

At least it’s a state that can mete out proper justice.

Texas: We’ll kill you back....

Texas's draconian reputation for executions is all sizzle and no steak. 1126 murders in 2011, compared to a mere 13 executions.

He did this in 1994. That means he’s had almost 20 years more of life than his victim.

He should have been put to death as soon as he was found guilty, and that’s that. But, as you say, at least he’s dead now, and that is definitely a good thing.

What I hate most about modern killers is they are now so self-righteous. In their minds, somehow they are the victims...did you see that he had the utter gall to “forgive” the daughter of his victim?

He may think he’s going to Jesus, but I don’t think Jesus is going to be very happy with him when He sees him.

Texas is one of the few states that follows through on the death penalty. But reading the story, I note that even in Texas it took nearly 19 years to execute him after he committed the crime. Even though there was a witness who was there when he did it.

Committed murder with 50 cents worth of gasoline in a Big Gulp cup.

People who want to restrict guns don’t realize how easy murder is to those who really want to commit the crime.

Fifty cents cash and a Big Gulp cup. A lead pipe or a brick picked up off of the ground. A knife from the kitchen or bought for a dollar from the thrift store. A scarf or a short piece of rope.

Yeah, it’s the “assault weapons.” We need to get rid of the “assault weapons.”

Texas’s draconian reputation for executions is all sizzle and no steak.

*************

You are correct that the number of exections don’t equal the number of murders. That said not ever murderer in Texas qualifies for execution. In fact murder with Capital punishment by execution is limited to the following:

A capital felony is one in which an individual “intentionally or knowingly causes the death of an individual,” under special circumstances. In particular, the:

murder of a public safety officer or firefighter in the line of duty
murder during the commission of specified felonies (kidnapping, burglary, robbery, aggravated rape, arson)
murder for remuneration
multiple murders
murder during prison escape
murder of a correctional officer
murder of a judge
murder by a state prison inmate who is serving a life sentence for any of five offenses; [or]
murder of an individual under six years of age.

In Texas, a person must be of at least 18 years of age at the time of the crime to have the death penalty imposed upon him or her.

With the above said Texas has executed 493 murderers since Dec. 12, 1982. If you could ask anyone of the executed 493 I bet they’d say Texas was serious.

Not serious enough as far as this native Texan is concerned. Install a conveyor belt to the death chamber and empty out Texas’ Death Row. Then I would be ready to say Texas would have earned it’s reputation of being tough on murderers.

Do I understand this right.... In Texas if a fellow was to walkup and just shoot you dead, no robber, kidnapping, rape etc., just shoot you dead, and only shoot you not multiple people I’m only looking at life..... But if you are a government person then its death.

I appreciate those who keep the peace and all but it just don’t see right to say that a fellow’s life is worth a bit less than govt employees.

One other caveat that goes with what I posted up thread.

****
(b) A person commits an offense if he:

(1) intentionally or knowingly causes the death of an individual;
******

Capital murder under the Texas Penal Code starts at 19.03

http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/Docs/PE/htm/PE.19.htm#19.03

Texas has a reputation because it does execute more than the other states but Capital Murder is very limited as you can see if you go read the penal code link I posted above.

In a just world (if death row didn't require conviction of a crime), women would account for a lot more than 50% of death row inmates.

Our society is drowning in technicalities.

Well, in the case of women, I still think there should be a requirement of a unanimous jury, but there shouldn't be any need to prove a specific statutory crime.

Most jurors will try to be fair.

In other news, last Thursday night the Maryland State Senate voted to repeal the state death penalty and enact severe gun control measures against law-abiding citizens of the state.

Why don't we just change our state motto to "Killer's welcome here."

"You will face no armed opposition when committing a crime and if you get caught killing someone in Maryland ... you'll get a slap on the wrist, clean sheets and three squares a day."

The entire problem in this country boils down to the fact that the politicians don't fear the electorate, in fact, they disdain us.

I don’t care about the gender or racial makeup of the convicted murderers on Death Row. What I do care about is that even in Texas, it still takes decades for the families of murder victims to see justice dispensed. It’s still not adequate justice because these brutal criminals simply drift off before they are put down. Where is the justice in that when the last moments of their victims lives on this earth are ones of agony and terror? Judge Roy Bean was right: hunt ‘em, hear ‘em, and hang ‘em.

Now it’s HIS turn to burn.. Adios, maggot!

No doubt that is true, and it is the kind of everlasting fire, that in about 3 seconds, will make him wish he had never been born. BTW, I am making this entry while on vacation in the mystical city of Davao, Philippines, scoping out my retirement home. Hi Alex. I know you are just a few miles up the road. I will be moving to Davao soon.

A burn injury is one of the most painful a human can experience. The horror of a crime like this is that the participants get a sneak preview of what is in store for the unsaved (those who not accept Christ as Savior)who will be writhing in unspeakable pain for Eternity in the Lake of Fire.

Visit a burn ward some time and you will understand.

Re: “Blacks plus Hispanics are a majority of the population in Texas.”

I pulled up the 2011 Census Bureau racial data on Texas.

I was going to compare it to the racial data on Death Row.

Then I saw this....

White(not Hispanic) - 44.8%

Hispanic - 38.1%

Black - 12.2%

Blacks plus Hispanics equal 50.3% of the population.

Anyone here still believe that Amnesty is not an existential threat to American Conservatives?
