Today, Americans are spending $900 more annually on gas than they did in 2009.

The neat thing...because of the tax structure...we are paying more on gas taxes now, than we ever did before.
It is more than that for my wife and me!
Yeah remember when Pelosi made such a big deal when the average price of gas was $2.36 a gal? Now you don’t hear not one peep out of her nor of any of the other rats
Wow, what grade of gas do you use and how far do you have to drive to work?
2009: Spent $1,623 Drove 12,991 miles First fillup, Jan 11, gas cost 1.329/gal Last fillup, Dec 26, Gas cost 2.459/gal 2012: Spent $2,193 Drove 11,222 miles First fillup, Jan 04, gas cost 3.009/gal Last fillup, Dec 18, Gas cost 2.909/galFWIW, I lived both these years in South Carolina which has one of the lowest state tax on gasoline.

Wow. I could only wish gasoline would go, and stay, below $3/gallon. It’s around $3.65-$3.75 here.
I’d think this pales in comparison to the additional money it costs to feed a family now over the course of a year.
We use regular and do a 62 mile round trip to work.
That is a lot of money, but then it depends also on the state you are located
Wonder how much more Americans are spending on blood pressure medication with Zero in the Mulatto Hut?
Wow! Now that’s record keeping at it’s finest!
Gasoline prices rose nearly 180% under Bush until they crashed during the world economic crisis, a crisis that Bush apparently did nothing to head off.
When Bush was in office the local news called it ‘The Oil Crisis” when reporting the price of gas, with kettle drums banging in the background. Now it’s called the “AAA Report” and all is smiles. *sigh*
Turns out that I spend more on Diesel.
wonder how much the pro obammy voters spent driving to their post office to pick up their free phones?
next year, the will be able to deduct the mileage.
So don't tell me that President Bush did nothing about it. You was obviously sleeping the entire time
My son used to drive 18 wheelers and it used to to me that the price of Diesel was so high, since it is a by product of gasoline. I do remember when Diesel was a lot lower then gasoline. Now it’s just the opposite
Thank you. I started keeping fairly detailed records when I retired in 1999. It's not hard at all and takes just a couple of minutes a day. It's sort of a hobby.
I use Excel spreadsheets and let Excel do all the heavy lifting.
I remember when pearl kerosene was fifteen cents per gallon. Now it's $8.00/per gallon in 5 gallon cans.
When I wuz a kid the gas wars had regular at ~$0.18/gal.
Even when I lived in CA in the early 70’s gas was ~ $0.30/gal.
Only if we're consuming more now. All states and the fed tax fuel per gallon. It's a fixed rate excise tax. That excise tax varies by state and fuel type (the fed rate is 18.4 cents/gallon for gas and 24.4 cents/gallon for diesel). Some states do add sales tax on top of this (California, Connecticut, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, New York and Virginia), but most do not. The higher the price of fuel, the lower actual percentage cost of the fuel tax, again, excepting those states that charge a sales tax on top of everything else.
I’m actually spending a lot less on gas than I did in 2009, because Obama eliminated my entire branch at the Missile Defense Agency at the end of 2011 and now I drive a lot less.
But he is a cool guy and black and I’d vote for him again.
Signed, uninformed voter.
PS. Hey, why is gasoline so much more expensive. And BTW, why did my taxes go up? I am confused. I know — those evil oil companies and the Republicans. Oh wait, its Bush’s fault, too.
Whats gas in SC right now ???
Ill be there later this week...
if only bush was out of the white house, we could fix these gas prices....
it’s on purpose. otherwise too many people would buy 50-mpg clean diesel cars and start denting into the supply meant for truckers.
I'm in Aiken county which is across the river from Augusta, GA. Yesterday, Friday, $3.599/gal. Today, Saturday, $3.479/gal.
- How much did Jet-X fuel did it cost to get Moochelle’s “wide body” up to cruising altitude when she traveled alone up to Cape Cod?
They will say you are wrong, so you google it for them.
Ahh, 85 billion dollars?
2% pay roll tax increase my foot. When my and I were still working 7% percent was each taken out of our paychecks and I am sure out of yours too, when you was still working so when the pay roll tax went up the first of the year it went to were it was before. Needless to say those on Social Security did not see a increase for two years except for the medicare deduction that is taken out of our ss checks every month
I believe only one (1) takeoff up to cruising altitude for Moochelle costs US taxpayers $85,000
Then add on the distance to Spain, Cape Cod, or Hawaii
Then add the landing
Then add the armed Secret Service agents
(Valerie Jarrett had six (6) Secret Service agents on her Va-Ca to Olde Cape Cod)
The Obamas took three (3) separate jets to Cape Cod and a few hours apart
Quit griping about filling up your gas tank - Walk!
The Obamas cost US taxpayers one (1) billion ($1,000,000,000) a year
The entire British family costs UK taxpayers 258 million dollars a year
Let’s rent the Brit Royal Family and hire Romney to run the USA
“Ground” the Obamas with extreme prejudice or duct tape them to drones!
Well yes, if you were making big money and reached the limit on SS taxes every year (about one hundred thousand by now I think) you stopped paying for the year, and at the beginning of the next year your taxes jumped back up to the seven percent again - but even those not making that much had a decrease of two percent on all they were paying for the last few years as part of Obama’s stimulus - at least back then he understood that leaving money in the hands of the people would get the economy moving - that decrease stopped automatically the first of this year - and even though Obama’s crowing about how he helped save the tax cuts for the middle class, he has never said a word about that return of the two percent, and loss of two percent take home pay, for that same middle class - one of his many dirty little secrets......
2. Regular gas price drops to $3.65 by September 8, (an 11% drop), then rebounds to $3.84 the following week (down less than 7% from peak)
3. That same week in September, 2008 the financial crisis starts.
4. The price of gasoline drops 70% by the end of December due to a dramatic fall in demand caused by the financial crisis.
So don't tell me that President Bush did nothing about it.
I didn't say Bush did nothing about the price of gas. I said he did nothing about heading off the financial crisis that was building during his entire term. I guess that did help with the price of gas - temporarily.
