As part of the upcoming forced cuts totaling $85 billion, the Federal Aviation Administration will be required to slash $600 million from its budget, amounting to 4% of its total expenditures. Appearing at the White House on Friday, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood warned those cuts would result in major delays at American airports.

Since, the incompetent are leading the FAA, the first to be laid off will be the competent ATCs, thus, being able to blame a future air catastrophe on the Republicans.

I agree. They also need to be reminded that they are nothing more than public servants who work for us. Americans don’t “DO” mini fascist dictators and we won’t tolerate that kind of nonsense in OUR country.

Yeah, LAX. AF1 sat on the Tarmac with Bill inside getting his hair cut. It closed down the airspace for four hours!

These people are our servants. We need a revolution to remind them of that.

Fine. This is what the ASSCLOWN signed into law. HE WANTED THE SEQUESTER, agreed with it, AND SIGNED IT INTO LAW.

Obama the Assclown OWNS the sequester.

If the managers of these airports are unable to maintain services by finding more efficient ways to offset a four percent reduction in funding ... they should be FIRED !

Could probably save 4% by only having 1 office party/Las Vegas "convention".

Edwards might have done something similar but Clinton did it in LA in 1993.

Ray LaHood Resigns as U.S. DOT Chief: Secretary Ray LaHood announced this morning that his time heading up the Department of Transportation has reached the end of the road, according to a news release
“I have let President Obama know that I will not serve a second term as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation”.
— Ray LaHood, January 19, 2013

Appearing at the White House on Friday, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood warned cuts would result in major delays at American airports.
“My audience is trying to persuade my former colleagues that they need to come to the table with a proposal, which frankly they haven’t done. While the president has, the Republicans haven’t”
— Ray LaHood, February 24th, 2013

The DIABLO (Democrat In All But Label Only) combiner seems to have a different definition of “resign” and “not serve a second term” as everyone else. Over a month after “resigning” and having a farewell party, it seems like there’s no rush to name a replacement for him.

What bothers me is a number of conservatives seem have drunk the kool-aid that LaHood’s pampered son Darin (who was appointed to a State Senate seat over two vastly more qualified Republicans because of daddy’s name) is “not like his father” and is a “true conservative”.

Darin has been a good boy and voted the “party line” during the 18 months or so he’s been in the state Senate, so he claim to be a loyal conservative when daddy’s old Congressional seat opens up. The GOP establishment is grooming Congressman Schock to run for statewide office in 2014, and I’m betting they’ll push to appoint Darin to his dad’s old congressional seat — selling him as the natural heir and a “staunch conservative Republican”. Darin will show his true colors once he gets a cushy seat-for-life in Congress.

Don’t fall for it, freepers!

GS employees work scheduled shifts and pay is handled on an hourly basis.

The bigger question for the FAA is why they aren't cutting more hours off non-essential personnel and keeping the controllers working. At my local airport, if they cut back an hour of coverage a day nobody would notice.

If you were the current democrat president, whom would you nominate for secretary of transporation? I’d nominate ex-Congressman Jerry Costello, since, during his last term, he was the third-highest ranking Democrat on the House Transportation & Inffrastructure Committee.

If Rep. Schock runs, statewide, I hope that he’ll run for governor. A conservative Republican, Chad Koppie, is already running for the U.S. Senate.

But no mention of cuts to high level bureaucrats? No wonder we're so screwed.

If I was Obama? I’d want to have some fun with it. I’d appoint Ralph Nader or my half-aunt that lived here illegally until she was granted asylum, she’s been on a plane so she’s qualified. Or maybe hold a contest amongst NYC cabbies to find the best one.

I hope Schock runs for Governor (if anything) rather than Senator as well because that is a waste of time unless Turban retires.
