There is a groundswell of support for the Second Amendment across America, yet the media has given it almost no coverage.

El Dorado and Siskiyou Counties Boards of Supervisors have now both passed a resolution in support of the Second Amendment.

Have you heard about any of this? Even the local papers in Siskyou and El Dorado counties refused to carry the story when their own Boards of Supervisors passed these resolutions. The media is spiking the story. Perhaps they hope they can stop the groundswell of support for the Second Amendment by censorship.

Second Amendment defended by Supervisors in El Dorado and Siskiyou Counties in California

There is a groundswell of support for the Second Amendment across America, yet the media has given it almost no coverage.

Every Sheriff in every county in Florida has signed a pledge to defend Second Amendment rights. http://www.examiner.com/article/every-sheriff-florida-pledges-to-protect-second-amendment-rights?cid=db_articles That is huge news, but you probably have not heard about it.

A well armed and peaceful crowd of 160 showed up at the City Council meeting in Oak Harbor Washington to speak their minds in defense of gun rights. The City Council promptly overturned their ban on arms in parks and the marina. http://mynorthwest.com/11/2195317/Crowd-packs-heat-Oak-Harbor-backs-down

In California, that bastion of Democrat control, some counties are also rebelling.

El Dorado county is adjacent to Nevada and Reno. When gun shows were curtailed by anti-gun forces in California, people in the San Francisco Bay area resorted to attending and purchasing at gun shows in Reno. They would then drive the guns back into California, entering through El Dorado county.

Thus it may make it difficult for the California State government to block the entry of guns at the border if the border county has decided to defend the Second Amendment. El Dorado County’s Board of Supervisors has done just that: It passed a resolution in defense of the Second Amendment.

Here is the resolution from the El Dorado Board of Supervisors; http://eldorado.legistar.com/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=1273909&GUID=CCC279CE-9092-4B0F-8523-5A6BEC8852F6

RESOLUTION NO. 006-2013; OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF ELDORADO IN SUPPORT OF THE SECOND AMENDMENT & AND THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS

WHEREAS, the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution, as part of United States Bill of Rights, ratified on December 15, 1791, protects the right of the people to keep and bear Arms; and,

WHEREAS, two landmark decisions issued by the United States Supreme Court established that the Second Amendment protects an individual’s right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that Arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as, but not limited to, self-defense within the home, and that the right could not be infringed by the federal government (District of Columbia v. Heller); and that under the Fourteenth Amendment the right to keep and bear Arms was incorporated and would also prohibit state and local governments from infringement of the right (McDonald v. City of Chicago); and,

WHEREAS, sadly, recent high profile events within our country have sparked discussions of gun-control at the local, state and federal levels and include numerous gun-control proposals that assert to address gun violence while, in fact, many of these proposals would directly infringe upon the Second Amendment rights; and,

WHEREAS, the County of EI Dorado’s economy and rural quality are supported by ranching, farming and natural resources, and that the right to keep and bear Arms is fundamental to our right to protect our families, our property, our livestock, and our livelihood, and that the residents of this County respect the rights afforded by the Second Amendment through the recognition and support of responsible firearm ownership, training and awareness; and,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of El Dorado supports all discussions seeking new ideas to protect our citizens from violence but cannot abide by any provision infringing upon the Second Amendment.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of El Dorado at a regular meeting of said Board, held the 29th day of January, 2013, by the following vote of said Board:

I CERTIFY THAT: Ayes:veerkamp, Mikalaco, Nutting, Briggs

Fully executed Resolution 006-2013-2.pdf http://dagnyd.files.wordpress.com/2013/02/fully-executed-resolution-006-2013-2.pdf

There is another California border county that has taken a stand for the Second Amendment as well. The main route from Oregon enters California through Siskiyou County. Here is the similar resolution from the Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors:

Res 13-19 support 2nd amend.pdf http://dagnyd.files.wordpress.com/2013/02/res-13-19-support-2nd-amend.pdf

Have you heard about any of this? Even the local papers in Siskyou and El Dorado counties refused to carry the story when their own Boards of Supervisors passed these resolutions. The media is spiking the story. Perhaps they hope they can stop the groundswell of support for the Second Amendment by censorship.

Today there are 123 official listed rallies being held for the Second Amendment all over America, and probably numerous additional unofficial ones. http://dayofresistance.com/rally/ http://www.rightwingnews.com/john-hawkins/tomorrow-is-the-day-of-resistance/ Perhaps your Board of Supervisors would also consider such a resolution. Please bring it to their attention.

Perhaps your friends have not heard about the widespread revolt to preserve our Second Amendment rights. Remember, all our rights are threatened without the preservation of the Second Amendment. Without you this revolution may be buried by the media. Pass the word now so we never have to pass the ammunition later.

As down as I am on CA, there are lots of conservatives and conservative areas in CA. Look at the US House delegation from CA and compare that to Maryland or Massachusetts. Just too many socialists in LA and the Bay area.

Here is Siskiyou’s: Del Norte has ours on their consent agenda for Tuesday. Spread it far and wide. Any citizen can put it on their Board or Council’s agenda for consideration. (Or ask a friendly Commissioner or Supervisor to sponsor it on the agenda.)

RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF SISKIYOU IN SUPPORT OF THE SECOND AMENDMENT
AND THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS
‘””
WHEREAS, the American people have retained to themselves the right to “keep and bear arms” – a right not subject to infringement by Congress as is memorialized in the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution, as part of United States Bill of Rights, ratified on December 15, 1791; and,

WHEREAS, Cooper v. Aaron held that since the Supremacy Clause of Article VI made the U.S. Constitution the supreme law of the land and Marbury v. Madison gave the Supreme Court the power of judicial review, the precedent set forth in Brown v. Board of Education is the supreme law of the land and is therefore binding on all the states, regardless of any state laws contradicting it; and,

WHEREAS, a landmark decisions issued by the United States Supreme Court in District of Columbia v. Heller established that the Second Amendment protects an individual’s right to possess a firearm from federal infringement unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that Arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as, but not limited to, self-defense within the home; and,

WHEREAS, the Court in McDonald v. City of Chicago established that the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution extended protection of the individual right to keep and bear arms to the several States under due process provisions of that Amendment; and,

WHEREAS, the strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government; and,

WHEREAS, the government of California has repeatedly released violent criminals back into its’ lawful society; and,

WHEREAS, according to Merriam Webster’s New Collegiate Dictionary, the word “infringement” means “an encroachment or trespass on a right or privilege” – in other words a violation or constraint upon a right; and,

WHEREAS, sadly, recent high profile events within our country have sparked discussions of gun-control at the local, state and federal levels, which have advanced proposed legislation which professes to address gun violence, while, in fact, infringes upon Second Amendment rights - (this has included numerous gun and ammunition control proposals, outright gun bans as well as registration schemes that would convert the right into a revocable privilege); and,

WHEREAS, the County of Siskiyou’s economy is supported by family ranching, farming and natural resource businesses, and that the right to keep and bear Arms is fundamental to our right to protect our families, our property, our livestock, and our livelihood; and,

WHEREAS, as a “frontier county,” hunting for food is a practice among many residents and, as a sport, hunting makes an important contribution to the local economy; and,

WHEREAS, the residents of this County respect the rights protected by the Second Amendment through the recognition and support of responsible firearm ownership, training and awareness; and,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Siskiyou supports all discussions seeking new ideas to protect our citizens from violence but cannot abide by any order, provision, law or agency initiative that violates the protections of the Second Amendment.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Siskiyou County at a regular meeting of said Board, held the 12th day of February, 2013, by the following vote of said Board:

Ayes: Armstrong, Kobseff, Bennett, Criss, Valenzuela

Noes: None

A Californian can’t buy a gun in Reno and leave the gun show with it. If you are from California, you have to have a California FFL dealer transfer the weapon and wait 10 days. This is whether you buy from another Californian at the Reno show or someone from Nevada or Idaho, wherever.

A person from California cannot legally buy a handgun or a long gun at the Reno gun show and cash-and-carry it driving back to California.

Can’t be done. The article is wrong.

I won’t speak to curios and relic rifles. C&R long guns may still be cash and carry, I don’t know.

Do you think it has a chance in Del Norte? I’d like to see it here in Humboldt but not holding my breath.

I knew El Dorado County was very conservative. Good to hear Siskiyou is as well.

It is not that California is depleted of conservative counties. It is just that we are completely overwhelmed by the huge army of socialists here. I live in Sutter County and we are very conservative. Can easily get issued a CCW license if you are in one of the conservative counties. Just impossible to do on the coast.

People have purchased ammunition etc., and things needed to legally make guns for their own use, and transported them to California.

Who knows what will happen if the laws become more extreme. Also who knows what is happening outside the legal channels. It is still a relevant development.

Yes, that’s legal. You can still buy ammo in other states. You can still buy gun parts in other states, except for the serial numbered receiver, which needs a California FFL to transfer.

Ammo and parts, you can buy all day, but not guns. That is not legal.

If the CA Tyrants in Sacramento get their new laws restricting Gun Ownership and regulating Ammo Sales, two things will happen.

1. Little Compliance with Laws making current Gun Owners Register their Weapons.

2. People will be seeing more than Fountains, an exploding Volcano and the Eiffel Tower when they visit Vegas. They will be visiting anyplace there that sells Ammo. I may have to install overload springs on my Mustang to make the trip back home.

Yes it has a chance. It is even a consent agenda item - meaning no debate on approval is anticipated.

It has been sent to a whole slew of Supervisors/Commissioners throughout the west. A resolution is only a statement of policy, but if the Counties don’t stand up for our rights, it appears that few others will. Just think if every red county in CA passed that resolution. Would it give Sacto. pause to realize that they had problems with many Sheriffs and Counties in implementing their gun laws?
