Military draft registration could be coming to an end as two lawmakers are on a campaign to abolish the Selective Service System.

Rep. Peter DeFazio, a Democrat from Oregon, and Rep. Mike Coffman, a Republican from Colorado, are the ones leading the charge to end military draft registration. They say the agency wastes millions of dollars each year preparing for the possibility of a military draft, The Associated Press noted.

Gotta love the timing of it. First in the name of
equality they allow women into combat roles.

Once the door is open for them....oh by the way let's
end the draft.

I keep waiting for the Million-Woman-March on DC loudly
protesting being excluded from the draft since they're
equal with mem....[crickets]

To a democrat the only wasted government programs are defense, border security, and immigration enforcement.

And what happens when we do have our next major war? I guess the leftists believe their policies will never lead to armed conflict.

I guess we will have to rely on the militia for local defense. Oh wait, the Dems think the militia doesn’t exist.

What “next” war. We’ve been continuously at war for 20 years.

Ronald Reagan campaigned on ending Selective Service registration as a waste of taxpayer money (only to send Ed Meese out there a few months after the election to do a 180....one of the Gipper’s few gutless moves)

In reality this is an obsolete piece of window dressing dreamed up by Jimmy Carter so he could look tough in the depths of the Iran Hostage Crisis.

If we were really going to do a draft we would need to reconstruct a full system with draft boards, etc. Not this glorified bulk mailing list. And frankly, let’s face it...the country lacks any sort of political will to bring back the draft, and it’s hard to see under what circumstances it would find one.

Well in the next major war, the lefties will flood the recruiting centers with the passion patriots did after Pearl Harbor. /s

Not surprising. I believe that there is a serious question as to whether the kenyan usurper in the oval office ever registered.

“What “next” war. We’ve been continuously at war for 20 years.”

Indeed. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the collapse of Soviet Communism, the struggle of freedom vs. the marxists moved from Eastern Europe to the halls of the Capitol and the White House...

Who’s winning?

Know this government today they are going to get rid of the draft and go to mandatory service either before college or after.

Turn them into a domestic police force.

FWIW, I think the draft is antithetical to freedom.

Gubmint shouldn’t be able to force you to die for the state.
