Gov Scott To Voters: Never Mind
Townhall ^ | 2-26-2013 | Cal Thomas

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Gov. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) was one of those tea party stars whom voters believed had the courage of his convictions when he promised, as recently as last summer, to block The Affordable Care Act in his state. But last week, writes the Orlando Sentinel, "Scott made an abrupt about-face, embracing a three-year expansion of Medicaid coverage for about 1 million low-income Floridians that will be paid for by the health care law."

Scott said, "I think this is a common-sense solution to dealing with this for the next three years where it will give us the time to think about how we can improve the system." Sounding like a Democrat, he added that the state is obligated to help "the poorest and weakest among us." No, governor, charities and religious bodies are obligated to help the weak and poor. State and federal governments have no such obligation. To claim they do empowers bureaucrats and politicians who are having a difficult enough time fulfilling their constitutional responsibilities. It also undermines the work ethic.

Yeah...backsliding RINOs always try to ‘explain’ themselves in the face of a good bitch slapping by the constituents.

My own Senator Chamblis was always on the RINO equivocating, appeasing, wimp fence. Always speaking out and working with the likes of McCain and Bush on their Amnesty Plan for illegals; speaking out about his “love of country” and how he couldn’t allow it to fail financially, thus he supported budget and ceiling appeasement.

He’s finally gotten so much flak back that he announced he’s gonna ‘retire’ - take that Golden Congressional Pension and do what the hell he wants to do until 2014. Screw him, screw any RINO that likes their power more than OUR Freedom.

Rick Scott Is Wrong

By Betsy McCaughey on 2.26.13 @ 6:08AM

Governors buying into Medicaid expansion are acting venally and short-sightedly.

Florida was going to get a Democrat governor sooner or later anyway. Just putting off the inevitable.

I voted for him because I thought he was a conservative. May not vote for him again. He needs a far better explanation than the one he gave.

I was starting to like a lot of what I saw in him until now. This is embarrassing.

true. There have also been other articles saying that Florida’s medical infrastructure can’t handle the additional patients, there simply aren’t enough doctors and nurses.

Add to that the additional, but pretty much unavailable, funding from Washington, and we’re going to getto the “I told you so” phase of the healthcare collapse a lot faster then expected.

I don’t know Scott’s real motivation here, but practically he may be doing us a favor.

I did not like Scott but McCollum would likely not have been any better. Are there no real conservatives left out there?

This is why it is EASY to scream and yell before actually getting elected and they you look at the figures you have in front of you and think...oh crap. The only one who is actually keeping his word is Senator Cruz but really he is only voting against things that have passed anyway. The federal Government is a tough thing to change and obviously Governor Scott is finding that out. Before being elected, he thought he could change the World, but the Federal Government World slapped him into reality. I do know that if things don’t change and quick, we are all going to be slapped hard.

Why is everyone using the term “common sense” all of the sudden. I guess they figure they can drain all the meaning out of it by having every idiot use it for every occasion. Palin starts it, the politician pervert and destroy it. Typical.

Scott, as far as I know, has STILL has rejected the “Obamacare exchange” notion, which is the heart of the communist’s crappy law.

Let us be realistic....Scott does not like the law, but also will be pummeled for not accepting “free money” in this purple state.

Scott WORKED in the healthcare industry—he KNOWS this is a POS law....and he WILL work against it when opportune.

Right now, in the current environment, it is best to be pragmatic.

As a voter in Florida, I can see why Scott is tracking to the middle, although I do not agree with it. He knows that he is underwater in approval ratings and has to attract some Independent voters if he faces the traitor Charlie Crist. The sad thing is that a couple of years ago, I would of sworn that my state was going to become a reliable red state, but boy have things changed. Northern Florida will continue to g our way, but what is troubling is that the I-4 corridor (St. Pete-Tampa-Orlando) is starting to trend blue because of all of the Hispanics that have moved into the areas. I live in Cleawater and I would say that in the last few years just in my town, the amount of Hispanics has surged. As most of you are aware, S Florida is usually pretty Liberal, so we really need to hold onto the I-4 corridor, or were going to struggle to win elections.

Even his own AG has criticized this. It may still fail in the legislature. I have written to my state rep and senator asking them to oppose it, although my senator is a RAT, so.....

Good for you. I will be doing the same. Jeb Bush advised against expanding medicaid in Florida. He knows this is not going to be good for the state.

FL will probably elect its first Democratic Governor in 2014. The state is turning Blue.

You can see the writing on the wall.

He knows that he is underwater in approval ratings and has to attract some Independent voters if he faces the traitor Charlie Crist.

And in the process tick off his remaining support...it is the same mistake GOP candidates have made time and time again. Trying to please voters who aren't going to vote for you anyway, is not a winning strategy.
