LITTLE ROCK, Ark (Reuters) - Faculty and staff members in Arkansas are one step closer to legally carrying concealed handguns on the state's college campuses.

The Republican-controlled Arkansas state Senate voted 31 to 4 on Monday to allow colleges and universities to decide themselves whether to allow concealed weapons on their campuses. The bill previously passed the Republican-controlled Arkansas state House 70 to 11.

The bill now goes to Governor Mike Beebe, a Democrat. He is expected to sign the legislation.

...and the week before that, Beebe signed the guns in church bill....albiet watered down. At least the preachers can choose whom does/doesn’t carry...before then, strictly prohibited unless you were uniformed LEO.

I would love to see the open carry bill pass.

The Republican-controlled Arkansas state Senate voted 31 to 4 ... The bill previously passed the Republican-controlled Arkansas state House 70 to 11.

Ms Parker makes it sound like the Republicans ramrodded this bill through. On closer examination, the bill had significant bi-partisan support.

The Arkansas Senate has 35 members. Currently, it has 21 Republicans and 14 Democrats.

The Arkansas House has 100 members. Currently, it has 51 Republicans, 48 Democrats, and 1 Green Party.

In both chambers, many Democrats voted for this bill.

[The House is Republican-controlled by a margin of only 3.]

Nice to see my state finally turning some things in the right direction and undoing some of the things the Dems installed during their long majority reign.

They can sign whatever they like our rights are guaranteed already. Funny I visited a university there a year ago armed. I could care less what infringements they dally on toilet paper or “rules” they conjure up.
