Glenn Beck and the WWE are going toe-to-toe in a war of words.
The political commentator, who used to host a show on Fox News, called out the wildly popular wrestling organization last week, referring to the entertainers as “stupid wrestling people.”
Beck’s comments were referring to the ongoing storyline between Jack Swagger and Alberto Del Rio. Swagger, who has enlisted the help of Zeb Colter, another character in the WWE, is feuding with Del Rio heading into Wrestlemania 29, where the two will square off for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Beck is claiming that Swagger and Colter’s characters are demonizing the Tea Party when the latter of the two went on a racist rant against Del Rio’s character during a show last week.
“The WWE now has put a new character out that is demonizing the TEA Party,” Beck said. “You know Linda McMahon, I’m sorry you didn’t win. We should have seen how your true colors early on, and I think we did. She’s just one of these progressive Republicans that we worry about.”

TV Wrestling has always had it's 'political' characters, because it draws audiences.

That is true of US presidential elections as well.
It ain't as pretty as the always exciting always moving “let me set you up to body slam me” WWE stuff - but it IS real.
GrecoRoman Wrestlers have a great foundation with MMA - they are used to cutting weight, and wrestling is a great fighting skill.

The Iron Sheik came instantly to mind. But before he got involved as a professional, he was a “real” wrestler who had been on the Iranian Olympic team and later was the US national team coach.
