Pet Food Stampsí Program Launches to Help Low-Income Americans Feed Their Animals

America’s food stamp epidemic is well-documented. At the government level, the focus is obviously on creating programs that help feed humans — but what about pets? What happens to those animals with owners who simply can’t afford to pay for expensive cuisine?

Alas, there’s a solution. A new program called Pet Food Stamps has launched, an initiative aimed at using private donations to help those who cannot afford nutrients for their furry friends. The organization assists low-income Americans who are already struggling and potentially relying upon government assistance to put food on their tables.

Naturally, many would argue that those who cannot afford to feed themselves probably shouldn’t have pets. Still, others would counter that circumstances change and that people sometimes find themselves newly poor and in need or assistance.

How long before this becomes an actual Government program? How about granting voting rights to pets?

The article title intentionally obscures the fact that this is a private endeavor, funded by private individuals. When the right uses the same underhanded journalistic tactics as the left, I move on.

If these people would EAT their pets, we could kill two birds with one stone.

They did not obscure the fact that it is a private organization, that is the name of the organization!

My 13-year-old doxie peed on the shoe of a DemocRat pollster last election cycle. It was priceless. Maybe they’re not so dumb?

LOL. If he is like mine he can be bought off easily though. No interest in an Obama phone but a piece of jerky and he’s sold.

If it’s edible, she’ll be your best friend. She’s lost most of her teeth though, so it has to be soft.

I applied. Will make taking care of my pets easier.

No word on whether I will qualify. I should hear from them in 3 weeks.

Its privately funded.

But I would not be surprised if a federal SNAP program for Fido and Fluffy is instituted in the future.

This is private and likely to stay so. A lot of poor elderly should have a pet...don’t see this as much different than adoption programs and no kill shelters.

When the Marriage Equality Rights Act is passed, it will address these issues. After all if an animal is deemed worthy of marriage, then voting and other rights will naturally transfer as well.
