A California high school student staged an undercover video sting operation to catch a thief in the act of stealing money from kids' backpacks.

But to her surprise, the footage captured a teacher rummaging through students' belongings.

Linden High School sophomore Justine Betti decided to hide in the locker in hopes of busting the crook who has been plundering cash from book bags during gym class for the past year.

After all the students left the room, a teacher hung back, went through the kids' bags and took money, according to Betti. When the girl told her friends about it, nobody believed her

Determined to obtain definitive proof, the sophomore once again concealed herself inside a locker on February 13, this time armed with a cell phone camera to catch the teacher red-handed. A second camera was set up in another locker.

She did not have to wait long: both video recordings made by Betti show a figured believed to be the educator opening several backpacks and methodically going through them.

'I didn't want to believe that she would do something like that because she was so nice, but then she did it,' Betti told KXTV. 'It was really scary. I was like "Oh my gosh, I can't believe I just got this on video."'

After watching the incriminating footage a couple of times, the amateur sleuth took the evidence to the school principal, who promised to investigate the allegations and asked her to delete the video.

“...asked her to delete the video.”

Translation: nothing will be done, and the whole thing will be denied while the teacher gets off without so much as a reprimand.

In the end, the student will be subjected to an institutional vendetta as a “troublemaker” and her grades will suffer while she loses all faith in the concept of justice.

Too bad, kid, but you’re scr*wed by the system while the school principal plays CYA and denies anything ever happened.

It’s a good lesson for adult life: SAVE the evidence, and get yourself a good ATTORNEY.

I would look for a gambling problem before I would consider kleptomania, since it appears she only takes cash.

I think we just found the perfect investigator for fast and furious. The justice department is sure to hire him any day now.

“I would look for a gambling problem...”

Or just plain, good old fashioned GREED. I want it, I deserve it, I’m entitled to it GREED. A twenty here, a ten there adds up in a day. In many schools, if a student is caught stealing.. the matter is turned over to the local police. I personally feel this matter should be turned over as well. Consequences for actions (sounds old fashioned but I still believe in it)

Don’t forget that recording others without their permission is a crime itself in several states.

Lindsay Lohan is a pathetic creature.

Success at too young an age, she didn’t know how to handle it. She steals to get attention. She screws to get attention, she gets drunk to get attention, she shows her privates to get attenion. Pathetic really when she had so much going for her.

Of course beinbg in Hollywood where there aren’t many sane role models and plenty of hangers on doesn’t help/

Kids cash, their lunch money, not enough to pay gambling debts.

Certainly there is a big difference between embezzlement and Kleptomania.

Hoa much money could this woman have gotten?

Chump change, kids money, I doubt she got enugh to buy her lunch that day.

Still , you could be right.

Also, my kids work. I bet all of them have more cash in their wallet than I do because they pretty much deposit their checks in savings, taking a cash allowance. They don’t have checking accounts and debit cards like Mom does.

As a matter of fact the 15 year old walked to the store yesterday to pick up some baking cocoa and used her own money because I didn’t have any cash in my wallet.

Kids that drive may have gas money as well. That is not chump change.
