The American Conservative Union announced today that Dr. Ben Carlson will address the 40th Annual Conservative Politcal Action Conference. Carlson is most recently known for his keynote speech at the National Prayer Breakfast eariler this month where he challenged President Obama’s economic policies.

According to ASU Chairman Al Canenas, “Dr. Ben Carson represents the optimism and hope of the future of the conservative movement, while at the same time he articulates the deep fiscal and social challenges that our Nation faces. We look forward to welcoming Dr. Carson to the CPAC stage in March.”

That’s awesome!

As an aside, I’d wager that the MSM has more assets devoted to investigating this guy’s background than they did for Joe the Plumber and Trig Palin combined.

Much rather hear from him than Christie.

Chris Christie = Out
Ben Carson = In

Wow. Looks like CPAC is actually becoming more conservative these days. Glad to see that.

That uppity Ben Carson does not know his place on the Democrat welfare plantation!

He didn't separate those conjoined twins! Somebody else did that!

That would be CARSON - not CARLSON!!!! Sheesh!

This is the man we should have waited for - to be our first President. An American with roots deep in history - and a story of accomplishment from humble beginnings to pre-eminence in the intellectual field of medical science and service to the human race.

Which is why I have constantly said that Every GOP candidate should have an entire file of EVERY REPORTER/JOURNALIST , including all rumors and anything embarrassing they can find, and Every time a Reporter/Journalist asks ANY QUESTION at a Press Conference, ALL THEIR DIRTY LAUNDRY SHOULD BE ON THE BIG SCREEN BEHIND THE PERSON BEING QUESTIONED. Right out in the open in front of God and everybody else.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Dr. Carson had a target on his back after upbraiding The One during the prayer breakfast. He’d be wise to have some additional security, especially as his national prominence rises.

I'm sure you mean first black President. I don't think the Founding Fathers were willing to wait for Ben to come along, so they had to settle for George Washington. :-)

I hope I’m wrong but I would not be surprised if his speech is 180 degrees away from what he said at the prayer breakfast.

I watched his speech at the National Prayer Breakfast and I was very impressed. I have seen him on Hannity’s Special Report and I was pleased with what I saw and I saw him as a breath of fresh air.

However, I have not seen near enough to conclude that Carlson is “the hope of the future of the conservative movement.”

Can anyone tell me where he stands on the Second Amendment? Hopefully, we shall soon learn about that and much more.

I also want to know about his position and commitment to “justice”. Personally, I want a conservative that is willing and able to go through DC like a crazy man/woman with a meat cleaver..... the corruption within our power system must be killed or we’re simply not going to survive.

Back to Carlson.... I hope he is all the things we might think he is and I look forward to hearing him speak at CPAC.

This guy will probably end up just like Perry, Palin, Gingrich, the pizza CEO guy, and all of the others. Getting conservatives to back any candidate is like trying to herd cats. It’s amazing how even conservatives will fall for the smear campaign that democrats and their republican lackeys throw out there at the first sign of resistance. If you’re willing to back a leader, back them 100%, or at least agree to allow them to get their foot in the door.

Rather than ‘black’ I had typed ‘first descendent of slaves’. (Then I hit the wrong button).

Like BO, there are many ‘black’ Americans who are new immigrants and/or without parentage from prior slaves.

Dr. Carson’s life story of character, victory over adversity and human decency, is not unique; - but it is underplayed - just to keep the old stereotypes and racial grudges galvanized.

Curious as to why you’ve decided that Sarah has “ended up”. Do not agree.

Don’t forget Herman Cain. We loved his humor and joy - then we got clobbered;(

Outstanding!

He can teach them about many things ... especially the Courage of one's Convictions. And standing up to the PC crowd.

Like the others I listed, Palin poses a threat to the current power structure in DC, therefore, the democrats and republicans who are currently in power will make sure to not only keep people like Palin away from DC, but to literally destroy them as an example to anyone who challenges the current regime.

To put things into perspective, imagine Sarah Palin, Herman Cain, or even Rick Perry walking into the Kremlin of the 1980’s Soviet Union, and delivering the message they had to offer.

In 2013. it’s almost as dangerous to uphold the US constitution in our own country, and it’s nobody’s fault but ours, because we couldn’t overcome our petty differences and look at the big picture.

The democrat-fascists are masters of divide and conquer. The only way to win is to beat them at their own game, and playing nice just isn’t going to cut it anymore.

Agreed. Dr. Carson has been pretty straightforward about being a moderate more than anything.

Herman Cain was a serious player, but the conservatives fell for the dem and GOPe smear campaign hook, line, and sinker. I bet the romney campaign had just as much to do with it as the entire dem campaign. Cain got too close, and he got burned.
