A toy bb gun was discovered by an employee of Sara's Preschool near school grounds Tuesday morning, according to Ridgewood police.

At roughly 8 a.m., a preschool employee found the bb gun in the woods by the Prospect Street facility. He alertly confiscated the toy gun and stored it for safe keeping until an officer arrived and removed it, according to police.

The bb gun was not loaded and police have not identified its owner, according to Ridgewood Police Chief John Ward.

"There was no evidence of criminal activity," Ward said. "No other weapons were located."

Common sense tells me this is Satire.
Reality tells me it probably isn’t.

We know that the person meant business because there was a back pack with a couple hundred thousand - give or take - BB’s .. Officials are continuing to try and count them BUT if you ever counted BB’s you know the task at hand.
“Golllllleeee” Commented Dep Sheriff Gomer Pyle.
Dep Barney FIFE opined he knows “the feller is up to no good. Sheriff Anj and I both know that all that is necessary is ONE BB at a time and that one should be in your shirt pocket”.

Did they ship the BB Gun off to Quantico to get the DNA?
Is it considered an Assault Weapon?
Was it loaded?
How large was the magazine?
DO YOU REALIZE SOMEONE MAY PUT YOUR/THEIR EYE OUT?
Was some guy named Red Ryder involved?
Was there a girl named Daisy involved?

Did you know a BB gun has a clip that holds, like 200 rounds????????

I can only wonder how many green, plastic army men the sniper was planning to kill.....

If it keeps one eye from being put out...!
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Which begs the question.

“Should you keep an eye out for something that will put your eye out”?

Like when the ball is hit into the stands and ‘they’ yell
“HEADS UP!”....
Shouldn’t the proper reaction be to put your head DOWN?

OR

When a horse stands on his hind legs it is said he “reared up” when, in actuality his REAR is down....

So many questions, so little time..... <:

Wow! I wonder if the serial numbers were filed off or if they found a cache of unspent ammunition near by. Fingerprints and ballistics should get their investigation going.

When we were kids, my older brother thought it was fun to surprise me and my friends while we were playing basketball, and shoot us in the ass with a BB gun. Just a light sting if one was wearing jeans, but more painful if it got uncovered skin.

He'd be looking at 5-10 years now in our present PC police state!

Good grief! We’ve become a nation of pansies

Our high school in NY would let out on the first day of hunting season. One year we drove up to school with a woodchuck tied to the roof - our only kill for the day - and our rifles sticking out the window. It was so funny we didn't get a deer, and we let the school know.

Today it would have triggered a call to the police and a SWAT squad showing up.

Pansies, woosies we have become.

. He alertly confiscated the toy gun and stored it for safe keeping until an officer arrived and removed it,

Thus contaminating the crime scene and destroying the chain of evidence. We'll probably never be able to catch the perpetrator.

We need to have a conservative day of absurdity. We should pick a day, and dump a few boxes of cap guns and nerf guns in every elementary school playground in the country. As every law enforcement officer in the country will be at every school, we will be free to do drag race on main street. Actually, an enterprising bank robber can use this distraction technique to tie up every fed and state law enforcer in the county.

Heck no. BB guns are MADE for kids. I had one when I grew up. I made sure my daughter had one. I'd recommend a BB gun for every kid in America.

They just need a few decent safety lessons. Jeez.

Good grief, my friends and I would have been in prison a long time ago... and at a very young age!

We used to have BB gun wars in the canyons around our town: we would divide up into teams, arm up suitably with our BB guns (fully loaded, and with extra “rounds” in our pockets), and construct “forts”; and then we would protect our fort and attack the opposition fort. The winner was declared when one side gave up (due to pain inflicted, lack of ammunition, or capture of all the opposition’s soldiers).

The best weapons were the single stroke/pump long guns: fastest to shoot. If someone had a multiple pump pellet gun, he could only use 2-3 pumps and only BBs, not pellets. (Didn’t have to worry about CO2 guns, as they were rare and expensive back then.)

The little BB-sized bruises you got on exposed flesh didn’t last too long... and luckily the Moms never saw them (or least never let you know she did)... Very rarely drew blood, and no one ever had their eye put out...

Things sure have changed since my days in high school. Most of the pickup trucks in the school parking lot had gun racks in them during hunting season for the boys that went hunting before or after school. I remember one particular incident where a couple boys were standing in the school lobby with a hunting rifle, the Principal asked them what they were doing. One of the boys said he was showing the other boy a rifle because he was thinking about buying it. The principal response was, “This isn't the shop and swap, conduct your business after school.” and that was that. Today it would be a federal incident, with both boys facing lengthy prison terms.

When I was in High School, we always had guns & ammo in the trunks of our cars, or behind the seat of the pick-up. As soon as school let out, we were out hunting, or fishing (with those DEADLY HOOKS! Eeeek!) until dark, then home to do chores and butcher/clean what we’d shot/caught.

If you had a disagreement with a fellow student, you didn’t go out to your car and get your rifle...THAT was considered unsportsmanlike! You settled it like ladies or gentlemen and beat the crap outta them with your bare fists out back by the dumpsters!

WHERE ARE ALL THE MEN IN AMERICA? We Conservative women STILL need you, no matter WHAT the FemiNazis have brainwashed you into thinking!

Wasn't that the greatest? My friends and I would spend hours setting them up and knocking them down.

The only thing I liked better was using the Red Rose Tea Animals (ceramic) and they would blow up very satisfyingly when hit!

I agree with the level of PC ludicracy concerning BB guns.

But... Are you a parent?

I don’t expect you would be ok with your kids engaging in BB gun wars regardless of laws or PC correctness. I too was involved in a couple of “BB gun wars” as a kid. That stopped when a kid named Jason had one penetrate his arm pit and get lost in his body. Chris swore he only used one pump and it was CO2. Jason had to have surgery to find and retreive the BB. Following an apparent neighborhood parent meeting, all guns were confiscated for the summer.

My firend’s dad, a Vietnam vet, taught me how to aim properly with a BB gun standing and on the ground when I was 6. This was in the 80s, and no one cared.

Now you find one in the woods and you have a police investigation? Did they get a grief counselor too?
