A toy bb gun was discovered by an employee of Sara's Preschool near school grounds Tuesday morning, according to Ridgewood police.
At roughly 8 a.m., a preschool employee found the bb gun in the woods by the Prospect Street facility. He alertly confiscated the toy gun and stored it for safe keeping until an officer arrived and removed it, according to police.
The bb gun was not loaded and police have not identified its owner, according to Ridgewood Police Chief John Ward.
"There was no evidence of criminal activity," Ward said. "No other weapons were located."
Detectives are investigating the discovery.
FBI Special Agents are rushing to the scene.
Thus contaminating the crime scene and destroying the chain of evidence. We'll probably never be able to catch the perpetrator.

You can say that again! They would have had to get some predator drones airborn with hellfire ordinance hanging off the wings.
Maybe Obama will free up some funds to activate an aircraft carrier to address this threat.

Since it is Ridgewood NJ and there are woods around, Tony Soprano was called in for questioning.
When he was picked up Police found an arsenal of .45 Water Pistols, Glock Super Squirters WHICH, under NJ law, are considered ASSAULT WEAPONS, gallons of water and millions of BB’s.
Paulie “Walnuts” spokesman for the ‘Family’ said a stagement would be forthcoming after all the facts were stashed er learned.
Good Lord, they make it sound like it was a rocket launcher.

We need to have a conservative day of absurdity. We should pick a day, and dump a few boxes of cap guns and nerf guns in every elementary school playground in the country. As every law enforcement officer in the country will be at every school, we will be free to do drag race on main street. Actually, an enterprising bank robber can use this distraction technique to tie up every fed and state law enforcer in the county.
OMG!!!! A BB gun!? Say it ain’t so. That’s even worse than kids drawing guns with crayons! Lock down every school in the state until this situation is resolved!

The owner of the weapon had an arsenal stocked with enough ammunition to injure thousands of innocent people.

Heck no. BB guns are MADE for kids. I had one when I grew up. I made sure my daughter had one. I'd recommend a BB gun for every kid in America.
They just need a few decent safety lessons. Jeez.
Good grief, my friends and I would have been in prison a long time ago... and at a very young age!
We used to have BB gun wars in the canyons around our town: we would divide up into teams, arm up suitably with our BB guns (fully loaded, and with extra “rounds” in our pockets), and construct “forts”; and then we would protect our fort and attack the opposition fort. The winner was declared when one side gave up (due to pain inflicted, lack of ammunition, or capture of all the opposition’s soldiers).
The best weapons were the single stroke/pump long guns: fastest to shoot. If someone had a multiple pump pellet gun, he could only use 2-3 pumps and only BBs, not pellets. (Didn’t have to worry about CO2 guns, as they were rare and expensive back then.)
The little BB-sized bruises you got on exposed flesh didn’t last too long... and luckily the Moms never saw them (or least never let you know she did)... Very rarely drew blood, and no one ever had their eye put out...
