The White House and the Department of Homeland Security were unaware of Immigration Customs and Enforcement's decision to release detainees until the agency announced it, administration officials said Wednesday.

"This was a decision made by career officials at ICE without any input from the White House, as a result of fiscal uncertainty over the continuing resolution, as well as possible sequestration," White House press secretary Jay Carney said Wednesday.

Personnel at Department of Homeland Security headquarters in Washington were also unaware of the decision until the announcement was made, a department official told POLITICO.

In this administration, ALL significant decisions are made by the White House. Cabinet secretaries are just wallpaper; WH staff pulls the strings.

What this statement means is that polling is showing a backlash from the release of detainees. Carney was sent out to lie to try to limit the damage. One of the House committees should have oversight hearings asap and get sworn testimony on the chain of command on this decision.

Then why didn’t the WH do anything about it?

Fine! Have them prove they do not condone the massive release of dangerous illegals into our streets, just to punish us. Fire Janet Napolitano today. Bring charges.

Prove it, side show Carney and Liar-in-Chief!

The White House and the Department of Homeland Security were unaware of Immigration Customs and Enforcement's decision to release detainees until the agency announced it, administration officials said Wednesday.

Dear, sweet baby Jesus, this is a perfect opportunity for us here to apply Adam Carolla's famous "stupid or liar" test. When something dopey like this happens, there are two reasons why it came to be: somebody did something stupid, or somebody is lying. Either one answer or the other is correct. And either way, it doesn't look good for the rest of us.

So, you could say that the Obama Administration and DHS are lying about this, which is bad, because they're trying to deceive us, OR you could say that the Obama Administration and DHS are actually telling the truth about this . . . also bad . . . because it means that the Obama Administration are stupid; so stupid they don't have any idea that one of their own effing government agencies did something so mind-numbingly retarded as this.

Either way, and because of the "stupid or liar" test, this was a very dumb statement to put out there into the ether.

There is no way that a Department head would issue an order that would get National attention without going thru the chain of command , ending at the White house.

The majority of the citizenry KNOWS that Obama is a micro-manager of the highest order. NOTHING happens without him issuing the direct order. And as for Carney, maybe we could get him a little monkey suit and cap to wear with his boss , the Organ Grinder.

They did this on purpose for what they believe was political gain and are now lying about it. Like Fast & Furious it is designed to inflict harm on the American people which, with the lap dog msm, will be used as propaganda against Republicans.

My thinking as well - in this situation, they're playing the "liar" role.

Implausible denial.

Apparently this wasn't playing well with the low info voters. I guess even they have limits.

The White House must have sent out some kind of directive to make the sequester look as disastrous as possible. Who are they kidding?
