Army Pfc. Bradley E. Manning, who faces a possible life sentence for leaking classified U.S. diplomatic cables to anti-secrecy group Wikileaks, will attempt to plead guilty to lesser charges at a pre-trial hearing Thursday.

~snip~

Prosecutors said that Pfc. Manning’s partial pleas are not connected to any plea bargain and that they plan to bring him to trial in June, according to the NBC News report.

Why isn’t he facing the death penalty for treason?

In my view he should be, this was in time of war. I guess the JAG prosecutors backed off on it, don’t know exactly what took place or the legalities.

Ok, only 3 life sentences, running consecutively, in a Mexican prison.

I am sure that never once in his training as an intelligence analyst was he told that if the information he had access to became general knowledge people - the sources of that information - real live people - could and would be arrested, tortured, and killed.

...So it made perfect sense to get revenge against the system for whatever the offence he took from it that caused him to burn CD and carry it out of his office and put it on the Internet in his fairyland world.

And now after dozens of sources are burned and likely people are dead; and none of our ambassadors can be trusted to be able keep a secret for anyone - he wants to plead to lesser charges he is not faced with and make a statement? Please!
What is he going to say? Is he going to a) Apologize? Rot in hell douche bag. I don’t want to hear it. or b) Double-down on his cause/issues and whine loudly for the whole world. I really really don’t want to hear it.
