U.S. felons a potentially powerful yet shunned voting bloc
Reuters ^ | OCTOBER 12, 2012 | Thomas Ferraro

Felons could account for up to 10 percent of the roughly 130 million Americans expected to vote in the November 6 election, more than enough to affect the razor-thin margins that could determine the outcome.

Obama still sticking his finger in Arizona's eye by releasing felons incarcerated in Arizona. Janet Napolitano taking the hit....she takes her orders from Obama not the other way 'round. Sounds like the Benghazi story.....anything comeing out of HLS or the White House about keeping track of these felons is laughable.

There is no reason why people who have dmeonstrated their contempt for the law and the community to be able to vote.

I’m a voting former felon. I committed the horrifying crime of failing to appear for a court date.

BTW the fantasy that prison and jail inmates sit around and dream about the day they’ll get to vote, makes global warmists sound sane.

Many of them are already voting, there is no federal law that prohibits it. It’s a state issue.

Felons have experienced first-hand the excesses most conservatives decry.

I say that since the object is apparently to turn us all into felons, felons should be able to vote.

I think the world would be a better place.

Its up to the states anyway. I will always oppose voting in prisons and jails but the simple fact is that I didn’t even consider voting till after I had turned things around and become a consistent conservative.

Hell, I’m among the extremists who wants to make voting harder by requiring ID, eliminating early voting, minimize absentee voting, and eliminate motor voter. If it were up to me, no one but the secretary of state office could register voters. No more political parties or advocacy groups registering voters. Nothing short of an in person trip to the SOS office to register and I would even require voter registration renewals every 5 years.

Nope. I would require people to vote for each election period as a separate act.

I meant for every election. No voter rolls that carry over.

But I could compromise. :p

We will all be criminals at some point. The govt is creating too many laws and regulations that you are bound to break some at some point no matter your lack of intent.

You would have to have all your elections at the same time.

In just the last year I voted 4 different times. Once in the presidential primary (with a local school vote) Once in the primary for congress and other state offices. A second school vote in September, and again in the November general election.

There are other local elections coming up soon but none that apply to me. We did pass a law stopping the schools from having elections by themselves when they would get the fewest voters.

No, they won't and no, they aren't.

They've had a taste of the American Taliban.

They will vote for libertarian principles or not vote at all.

Libertarian principles are the left, and you are right, criminals love them, they will NOT be voting conservative, they hate conservatism.

The criminal class will be all over this libertarian, or leftist agenda, it is to the left of even the democrats.

Throw open the borders completely; only a rare individual (terrorist, disease carrier etc.) can be kept from freedom of movement through “political boundaries”.

Homosexuals; total freedom in the military, gay marriage, adoption, child custody and everything else.

Abortion; zero restrictions or impediments.

Pornography; no restraint, no restrictions.

Drugs; Meth, Heroin, Crack, and anything new that science can come up with, zero restrictions.

Advertising those drugs, prostitution, and pornography; zero restrictions.

Military Strength; minimal capabilities.

By that time, elections will just be a sham anyway.
