The NAZIs used guns when they started the "final solution" and killed hundreds of thousands. They soon realized that shooting people one at a time was dreadfully inefficient and so industrialized the process to handle millions.

You could make a case for murder out of our "Indian Wars", an indigenous population armed with bows and arrows going up against repeating rifles and Gatling guns. I guess the winners get to write the books and call it "manifest destiny".
