They bound his hands to the rear of a van, and then sped off, dragging the slender taxi driver along the pavement as a crowd of onlookers shouted in dismay. The man was later found dead. A gut-wrenching video of the scene is all the more disturbing because the men who abused the Mozambican immigrant were uniformed South African police officers and the van was a marked police vehicle.

Soon to come to the streets of New York when a person is found to have an empty 30-round magazine.
Wasn’t the elimination of apartheid supposed to eliminate all that kind of thing?
So who protects the South Africans from their police?
South Africa is so much better since they got rid of White rule.
The people all seemed to enjoy it. Was the lady shouting Allahu Akbar?
Having many friends from South Africa, they said just because they were in uniform or a marked van does does in anyway mean they were actually official.
I can find bits & snippets, but not the whole video. Cops must have ‘confiscated’ the full vid to get it out of the public domain, or something. Is there one of the 2 on that page I’m missing?
Yet the left will tell you that it was so much worse under white rule.
All I see is the police trying desperately to get the man IN the van, and the man fighting to stay hanging out of the van. The police tried several times to lift him back into the van and the crowd started to get more and more violent. Finally out of self preservation the police have to speed off to save their own lives dragging the poor idiot would refused to get back in the van.
As far as I am concerned the police did everything they could, but eventually had to speed off to save themselves from the riotous animals.
All cultures are equal, right? /s
What part of Detroit was that?
Yep. The racist South African Police at work again.
Some things change, but some things always stay the same.
That's what I saw too. In fact, they even drove real slow in order to convince the guy to get in the van.
These so-called police operate like gangsters. I hope the people responsible get nailed and imprisoned.

I am horrified by how difficult it is to horrify me these days.
That’s what I saw as well.
Kind of like punching a pregnant woman and then slamming her to the pavement on her head. eh!
The victim apparently did not die from being dragged, the evidence suggests he was beaten to death in police custody later on.
Don’t know why people are surprised by this. You can’t take people who put burning tires around the necks of others, or hack them to death with machetes, or stone them to death, put a uniform on them, and expect them to act differently the next time there is a disagreement. The culture is one of the strongest mob shall rule, as can be seen here when the crowd pushes in and the police vehicle takes off. Or when the police clashed with the miners at Marikana.
Interesting that in both cases it was immigrants against locals.
He was resisting getting into the van alright but they definitely drove off with him hanging off the back end.
I’d probably resist too if I think they were going to kill me.
That is also what I saw.
“An average of 860 people a year died in police custody or as a result of police action between 2009 and 2010, up from 695 a year from 2003 to 2008”
Its certainly a messed up place.
The Toronto Star is Canada’s answer to the New York Times. I wondered what the twist was.
Judicial processes continue to become more efficient for non-VIPs worldwide.
That’s pretty much what I saw.
If the guy had gotten into the van and stayed there he wouldn’t have been dragged.
I heard a lot of laughing in the video so the crowd wasn’t all dismayed.
It should have been handled better, but the guy helped end his own life.Mess with the Bull you get the horn.
Nope. Summer Vacation—Chevy Chase.
No one, if there is no South African equivalent of The Second Amendment.
OsamaObamaCare mandated the hiring of an additional 16,000 IRS agents for “enforcement”.You can be sure that those new agents will “touch” themselves watching this video.
I’ve been to South Africa...twice.A “kinder, gentler” place it most assuredly is not.
THIS is the country which leftists are calling more humane than the US because homosexual marriage is legal there.
Just so you understand the twisted logic of the left.
Official killers? Yes. Official gobment? Who knows?
